He didn't need to be on any shortlist. He was offered the job.
    Has that been reported anywhere

...and when did St. Mirren state that? Oh yeah. They haven't.

    3 Premiership roles? Not interested?

There are 12 teams in the SPFL Premiership.

He wouldn't get near the uglies jobs, he got booted from one of the next group containing the three next best jobs, wasn't quoted for another one, and is apparently personna non grata at the pink bus shelter, even with Neilson on the ropes. The next group of wannabes he's not being quoted on the two that were/are uo for grabs.

He's unlikely ever to get a top league gig in Scotland again, especially if he's briefing out no -interest in the less glamorous jobs.
    Nelson on the ropes?

Ross wasn’t initially on the shortlist but it’s understood the club reached out to him in the last 36 hours.
After discussions they made an offer.

Him not being interested currently doesnt' mean he isn't interested. Dundee are gash, I wouldn't take that job.

He's been ruled out of 75% of the jobs in the Premiership then and thinks St. Johstone, Ross County, Livvy and Dundee United are the creme de la creme worth waiting for?

Scottish football at the top level has passed him by, either by design or his lack of ambition

Maybe fancies a break and we are still paying him. Also possible he could get an English lower league job.

Maybe he's hurting from the fact he got shafted at hibs then binned.

I'm not a JR fan but he must feel a bit miffed and maybe he's happy taking some time away. The next vacancy will be there in a few months anyway.

Have Naismith and Brown turned it down, or have they thought Robinson was a better choice?

Seen that Naismith has pulled out of the running, not sure about Brown. Rumoured to be paying a fee for him from Morecambe as well.

I quite liked him at Motherwell but remember him turning into a bit of a busted flush at the end.

    It will.

At this rate half the jobs in the Premiership will be up for grabs next season anyhow so opportunity will come knocking.

He was on a decent contract with us so I imagine the money will be fine. Probably costing us more but from his point of view why not do a bit of punditry work and recharge the batteries?

I don’t think he’s interested in coaching in Scotland
Think someone said a few pages back, he’d like to coach abroad

Stephen Robinson quoted as next manager of St Mirren.

Is managing St Mirren more attractive than managing Morecambe ?

Never going to get European football at Morecambe. Has a chance at St Mirren

More bigger games I would have thought. Better chance of getting to finals etc and possibly Europe. No idea how wages match up

I also thought he had been convicted of assaulting his partner but looking it up just now found he was cleared. Surprised I didn't know that tbh.

Maybe keep him off our TV screens for a bit, he’s not my cup of tea
