    no chance.
Can’t see it either, too big a job for him & too much pressure imo.

Paddy power have some Greek manager Ange Postecoglu as favourite. Currently managing in Japan. Not sure where this has come from

    He’s Australian.

The link is down to the director of football Celtic are getting in. One of his jobs at Man City was to oversee the sort of network of clubs the Man City owners had, the Australian/Greek boy was manager of Melbourne City who are part of that group, his current team in Japan might be as well but I may have read that wrong.

Apparently highly thought of and keen to get a move to European football.

I wonder how difficult will be to get foreign managers in now with all the new work permit criteria?

Will that make a difference now we’re not in the EU any more?

Has his team 5th in the J1 league this season and finished 9th last season. Does seem a very left field appointment.

More likely Howe now sees opportunities in England, so has collapsed the talks.
Personally wouldn't rule out the lawwell incident making him reconsider things.

It was Melbourne Victory he managed, not City...but the connection could still be there

No idea if Ange will get the Celtic job, or if he'll do well if he does, but having seen his teams play here in Oz, I'd have loved him to get the Hibs job the last couple of times we've been looking. His Brisbane team were a joy to watch - Barca on a budget . He's had success at a couple of A league clubs and managed the national team. No idea how he's got on since he left Australia though.

The criticism that could be levelled at him would be similar to Hughes and Stubbs Hibs teams - lovely passing and movement, lots of possession, but sometimes a lack of cutting edge - think Falkirk semi-final. With a budget that would allow him strikers and creative midfielders of the type Celtic can sign compared to the rest of the SPL, I doubt that would be an issue for them.

Surprised by Howe backing out, that agreement has been done since April apparently. This fella from Japan seems a strange one but best not to judge too quickly, Arsene Wenger joined Arsenal from Japan.

Management will be different work permit wise, plus he's an Aussie.

There is absolutely no chance Ross will even be considered for the Celtic job.

They’re not going to be going from Eddie Howe to Jack Ross. They’ll be going for someone with a bit of pedigree. They need it as they’ve got some job on their hands to catch Rangers.

As bingo said, guys like Lucien Favre are currently out of work. That’s the kind of guys they’ll be aiming for. It would be a spectacular climb down to end up with Jack Ross. The reaction of their fans would be a sight to behold though.

Why would you want to watch players who continually let you down and you know will never turn up when you need them to?

Same players gave us our best league finish is what, 15-20 years?

Clearing out everyone on the back of that might be a tad of an over reaction

Pedigree? Does managing a wee team in the English premier give you that? Avoiding relegation ✅

Did he not take Bournemouth from League one to the Premier League? That's a pretty good achievement for a club that size. Infact I'm not sure if any manager apart from him has ever achieved that?

I think a fair few have done it.

Nigel Pearson, Nigel Adkins and Paul Lambert all managed to do it.

The last two in consecutive seasons.

Pretty sure Alf Ramsay did it with Ipswich but topped the others by winning the top league.

Thanks for the update.Definitely out of Celtics reach now.

When you think things can’t get any better at “Paradise “ this Eddie Howe fiasco comes along.

All the recent managerial vacancies are getting filled up,but Yogis still available.

Wouldn’t that be a wonderful appointment.

This Australian boy Celtic are after sounds decent to be fair to them. Listening to an Australian pundit talking about him on talk sport just now and he sounds like quite an exciting appointment IMO.

I’m not sure if you’re genuinely questioning whether Eddie Howe has had a better career than Jack Ross or not and comes with a better pedigree or if you’re just needlessly looking for an argument..

He finished 16th, 9th, 12th, 14th and 18th. 3 of they 5 seasons were a lot more than just avoiding relegation.

You’re kidding yourself on if you think that Eddie Howe and Jack Ross would be similar standard appointments.

He saved them from relegation out the football league completely by overturning a 17 point deficit in half a season then got them promoted to League One. Then he left, came back and took them from League One to the Prem and kept them in it for 5 years.

He done an incredible job there.
