Thread: Alan Stubbs

    Alan Stubbs

Front runner to become next Queen’s Park manager according to reports after Ray McKinnon’s departure today.

Good luck to him if he gets it, shame that his career has possibly regressed to League 1 though.

2 bad choices have put him to the bottom. They’ve got cash and could be in the championship the season after next, obviously he knows and rates LD so might be a decent move to get him back on the merry go round.

    Why did MacKinnon leave?

Bear in mind Dempster is now at Queen's Park, she knows Stubbs, and they had success together at Hibs, can see why she might want to get Stubbs.

"While the decision will surprise many after gaining promotion to League 1 next season, the action had been agreed jointly to allow the club to begin the long-term task of restructuring once the initial aim of promotion had been secured.

It’s funny because I think we’re the only fan base in Scotland that still hold Stubbs in such high regard as a manager (and rightfully so from our point of view)

Crazy to think he was a game away from most likely getting the sack yet left a club legend. Fitbaws a funny game.

I still don’t understand why he chose to leave us for Rotherham. Just achieved one of the biggest results in the clubs history, got a shot at European football, winning the league the following season was basically a formality. If he stayed on and then had the same season that Lennon did after gaining promotion he would have had offers a lot more lucrative than Rotherham who were destined for relegation from the Championship.

I’d be surprised if Leeann had headhunted Stubbsie.

However if she has, then I think she has made a sound choice.

He’s more an encouraging ‘arm around the shoulder’ kind of manager than a sargeant major, and he certainly has experience in building clubs.

When he came to us he never even had a first team squad!

Think it’s pretty common knowledge now as to why he felt the need to move on and I don’t think it was a football-rated decision

He wasn't getting sacked at Hibs, Leeann wanted him to stay but he had to get back near his family for personal reasons and Rotherham were the only option at the time.

I felt for John Doolan. Could tell he was absolutely gutted about leaving.

He was offered the job when Stubbs chose to leave but felt loyalty to him and went as part of his team with Taff.

    What's the chances of a female HC/Manager?

Agreed. There are some doing good work in England in the lower regions of the pyramid.

If they're good enough then their gender shouldn't matter. I'd welcome it.

    100%

Emma Hayes of Chelsea could be the first.

He was offered the job that Lennon eventually got?! Is that a fact

I still prefer his brand of football.

I might well be in a minority but I probably would still be more confident of a cup win if Stubbs were in charge. I think we played great football most of the time.
There was a real flair about the club and as a whole the support were more confident. It's been greatly annoying to hear the BBC pundits all rallying round to say how great a job Calum Davidson has done at St Johnstone and he's a shout for Manager of the year for getting them to two cup finals and winning (at least) one. Stubbs got us to two (should have probably won both) and finally delivered the most important of all. We were also in the championship at the time. Who got manager of the year? Warburton.
Nonsense, as Tam McManus has pointed out today anyone with success out with Glasgow should be knighted.
It will probably go to Gerrard this year.

Stubbs at Queens would be great for them I'm sure.

Is it not the case the voting is done before the final is played? Similarly Ross could end this season 3rd and win the Scottish Cup alongside a semi final in the other cup and not even be in the running.

Best keep the drink-fuelled rants to a minimum if she’s after an extension.

    Domestic reasons apparently 😉
