Tough one after that semi performance from Melker. Base it upon the next couple of league games I think.

Whoever we play will sit back and try to hit us on the counter. Imo we'll need players who can help us break down the opposition and Hallberg fits the bill.

Right now I'd be inclined to give Hallberg and Murphy a chance in the next couple of games and see if they can grab it.

Probably both & Irvine IMO. Although Gogic, Irvine and Murphy are possibly our best and most balanced 3.

Newell's place must be under threat. He's not had the best second half of the season and as it stands I'd be seriously thinking about how to fit Murphy and/or Hallberg in the team. With Boyle and Irvine untouchable imo, that doesn't leave many other players to miss out.

Newell was very effective until his injury today. If he’s fit he plays the final.

Agree. I think Gogic has been fantastic but it is down to him or Halberg for 1spot.

Halberg had a great game today, showed a lot of fight throughout and the energy levels were fantastic. In my eyes though Gogic would deserve the start based on his performances throughout the season. One of JR’s best signings in his time here.

Gogic was really stupid getting himself sent off. Probably couldn't complain if he lost his place.

Given Hallberg will pull defenders about, take shots from outside the box and can deliver a better set piece than Boyle, I wouldn't be surprised if we looked to start him against a rigid St Js team.

When do we play St Js?

On what I’ve seen recently, both. No Newell. Think he’ll be toiling injury wise anyway.

Halkberg. We need as many footballers as possible to break down ST Johnstone. ST Mirren don't have a robust midfield. A forward thinking player like Hallberg can help overrun them quickly.

I'd play both with Newell making way.

My only concern Is Gogic is almost getting booked every game for sometimes a needless incident, and I think He could be targeted in final as a potential person to wind up. I would play hallberg in next two league games and judge him on them then decide.

  24. #23
Gogic has been brilliant for me all season, really impressive and is actually better on the ball than I gave him credit for.

We’ve not had much joy with St Johnstone this season though and I wonder if we play them in the final if it’s maybe a case of switching it up and trying someone a bit different by starting Hallberg.

We play the ball a lot quicker sharper with Hallberg and he also tries to get in behind, that could be something that changes the game against St Johnstone and stretches them.

I’d like to see Gogic, Newell and Murphy in the starting 11.
I like Hallberg, so if Newells injured he’s in too.

  26. #25
Hallberg had a good game yesterday but for me Gogic has been fantastic most of the season so deserves the place.

Wouldn't be totally against Ross switching it up a bit and playing Hallberg if we came up against St Johnstone in the final though

Gogic will be in but great to see Hallberg playing so well. Looks like Newell may be struggling for the final anyway so Hallberg looks like in good form as a ready made replacement.

    Based on yesterday, I'd agree.
