    Matchday programme

Just had a flick through the programme and it’s a big disappointment.

An article on Porteous, which is good, a bit on St Johnstone, a page on the mascots and then pretty much everything else is adverts (36 pages in total, i think over half are ads).

I know programmes are a good way for the club to drive revenue but for something that’s a value-add to the season ticket this season, there’s not much value in it.

I don’t mind the volume of adverts if there’s some more substance in it to read, I hope this is on the radar for improving for next season.

I suspect they will know how many of us actually open the emails with the programme. I haven’t opened any of them and and I’m guessing I’m not the only one. That may be a poor guess though.
It might be the programme as we know it is gone for good and media resources will be concentrated elsewhere.

    .
I haven't bothered with the e-mail version either, but I'm sure we will see proper programmes again, once crowds are back. We better!

That’s the mad thing - make it worth reading, more folk will open it and the adverts can sell for more.

Advertising is worthless if nobody looks at it.

it’s a pretty poor product. A pamphlet of adverts - surely the actual match day programmes aren’t this bad? If they are it must only be collectors buying.

Oddly enough I was looking at Scottish cup final programme from May 1972…. 12 pages but only cost 5p.

I used to write for the programme but this season was told I was no longer needed but they are hoping to have more input next season.

Sorry to hear that you weren’t needed, it’s encouraging that they want to have more content next season though.

I think they just streamlined the content. Hopefully get back in involved next season.

Not needed i.e. thrown away like an oily rag, due to a pandemic, yet they want you to return when it suits them. It isn't right.

It wasn’t like I was employed by them, just voluntary. It was disappointing but a streamlined version was the economic way forward, i guess that and more advertising space for the club.

I will be more than happy to jump back on board next season but also understand if they go another direction.

Fair enough, but it sounds a shabby way to treat someone who made a voluntary contribution. I hope you get back involved.

It’s funny you say this cos when I was having a moan last week I was told by the club that the eprogramme “is the same as the printed version would be”.

    Tempting offer but no thanks😀

How much for my Dnipro away programme with match ticket and a 20 Grivna note? Can’t remember the cost but it was not much and you got a wee additional magazine with it. Would not have expensive as a pint of Stella was only 16p🍺🍺🍺🍺

I actually started this season ordering the programmes off the websites that prints them, just to try and bring some sort of normality to watching Hibs on the streams. I think after two or three orders I decided not to bother anymore because the actual amount of content in them was dreadfully low and as many people said it's full of adverts.

Despite 3 emails to the club and being on the mailing list I’ve not received a single match day programme all season.

    Shameful.
I collect like a lot of others and whilst I can understand the need to cut things back a bit, quality of content and writing isn’t one of them. They’ve overlooked a few things in their content this season, player obituary / tributes being amongst them.
I fear that one day the club will just do away with the programme altogether.

I’d happily pay three quid in today’s money for a modern slimline programme that wasn’t the same size and weight as the average coffee table.

Oh I hear you Iggy. Anyone who has a collection and need to store them, they are pain in the A.

edit to add, they are often a good read though.

I must admit I’ve not opened any of the emails and read the attached match programme. Just not something that really interest me that much.

Anyone have a link to the programme for the semi final ? I can’t remember the company I bought the last ones from!
Never one to laugh at others misfortune but today could only have been improved by rangers getting horsed and God pissing down a meteor shower of fifty pound notes on Edinburgh

I think the Hibs "effort" of a programme this season is dreadful. Makes it all the worse for the fact people like yourself volunteer to put articles in.

As a keen programme collector since I was a child, I have been buying the "effort" from curtis sports programmes each home game at a cost of £3 plus postage. I have also bought away programmes this season, and would say the content by the other premier teams are more or less same as pre pandemic and thus far superior to the Hibs "effort". Queen of the South produced a very informative and enjoyable read for our recent cup-tie.

This begs the question, why can't Hibs do the same?

Hopefully my £3 investment in adverts has just grown in value if we win the next tie

    Fingers crossed 😃
