Cheers, i wouldn’t lose a wink of sleep if he left tonight - I just don’t know how we can be so bad one game then get worse the next.
I think one of the guys on your podcast mentioned teams have found us out. Probably not far off the truth to be fair.

Stop Martin Boyle and press our midfield and you’ll probably beat us.

When Boyle isn’t having an impact, we’re gubbed. At the moment there’s nobody else taking that burden off him, and if you’re lining up against us all you need to do is keep him quiet.

I think Murphy’s been looking like he has something but there’s never an end product. What we’ve been really struggling to do is to find anything resembling space in the final third and occasionally Murphy’s been managing it but without anything happening from there (not his fault imo). When he creates that wee yard though there’s nothing after that - movement is pish so struggling to play in a striker, an overlapping wingback, a midfielder surging beyond the striker etc. It’s just static and it falls flat.

Longbangers 120 with Joe Newell is available now.

We talked to Joe about his career, his time at Hibs, the season so far and Saturday’s defeat to Aberdeen. We also looked ahead to Wednesday’s game against Celtic.

I enjoyed that. I always enjoy Newell's interviews and fair play to him appearing given the current run of results - I'm sure a lot of folk would have given it a swerve.

Yeah it would have been easy for him to push it back a few weeks but we’re obviously glad he didn’t! He comes across really well.

Well this was a welcome surprise this morning. Spoke well, good of him to come on.

Thought the 3 of you done well too. Given the results you approached the subject rationally and this made the engagement with Joe much easier and I think he respected that.

We seem to have fallen off a cliff since Rangers and I would of liked to see you probe that game, more from a psychological/confidence standpoint, specifically the impact of being 60 mins away from going top of the league; to having that ripped away from you and the subsequent drop in form..

Look forward to more of these, except for your dug chat..

Been listening to the podcasts in the car on the way into work last week or so. I know... a bit late to the party

Pretty decent listening and honest assessments to be fair.

    Well done lads

When Newell, Doidge, Jackson & Vela arrived it was easy to think of them as Hecky signings given that so many came from the English leagues at the same time, so it was interesting to hear that we'd shown interest in Newell when Lennon was still our manager. It was said that we'd been after Vela for a while too. Since then Ross has leaned toward Scottish players, although it was mentioned that Covid had played it's part in that.

it's nothing earth shattering but it seems to confirm that the recruitment dept. are suggesting a range of players with the managers then giving their preferences.

Newell always comes across very well. Seems a good character, regardless of what some say we do have a few of them in the team.

He was brand new, could easily have patched us after the result at the weekend but he was happy to have the chat. And his dad vouched for LB as well, which was good!

Took me a while to latch on to what "LB" was.

    That's the trouble with acronyms.

Listened this morning whilst making my breakfast. Made me chuckle a lot. Mondays are always better after we’ve humped the Huns at Hampden at the weekend and I’ve got a quickbangers to listen too.

Good chat guys, managed to catch it just before bed. Thought there were a lot of well made points, particularly from John and Colin of course.

But honestly, nice work from the 3 of you again. That episode could have been brutal given that the topic is a bit depressing, but you made it enjoyable.
