    Christian Doidge

Forest Green fans said that he tends to go on a barren spell then scores a big run of goals. He did that last season.

If we have the Christian Doidge that couldn't stop scoring for a large spell of last season back then that is going to be absolutely massive with five league games to go and in third and with a much shortened Scottish cup. Huge.

Even if he doesn’t he is still a key player.

For a striker that apparently doesn’t score enough he’s looking like averaging 14 to 15 a season which is excellent for the ‘big striker’ type.

I said a few weeks ago we get the best out of him and Nisbet when they play together. Nisbet hasn't got a goal tonight but he has looked very good and Doidge has 2. You can't argue with that from your strikers.

Get them both on the park, let them play and if that means Cadden (or Boyle if his form changes) sitting on the bench then so be it.

Said in the match thread that we now have 36 goals between Nisbet, Doidge and Boyle, all three in double figures.

Delighted for the big man in the last couple of games, always causes bother but he did go on a long stretch of missing gilt edged chances prior to this latest burst.

    Great time to hit form.

    Well done Doidge tonight.

A good and important player for us.

I've never been a big fan of Doidge really, but today I thought he was excellent, tremendous work rate and 2 well taken goals, well done to the big man. His attitude was first class, and a lesson to any young aspiring forwards.

Even if he hadn't managed to score a brace tonight, I thought his performance was very, very good.

As it happens, the goals move it into the excellent category. Delighted that he's back firing.

Really like Doidge as a person and player - he’s not perfect but he’s good for us and definitely causes problems and links well.

Would be hard to replace his consistency in our wage bracket.

Dobie should have been booked. There was contact, but it was Newell’s hand lightly brushing his shorts. If they had been given the penalty, we could have been conned out of the game.

Ps. Sorry for getting off track. Wrong thread.

Back on track. I'm expecting a serious run of goals now.

Gave him stick for not scoring on that long run he went on but he’s back doing it now and definitely deserved MOTM tonight. Delighted to see it.

Great finish for the second. That alone should give him a huge lift in confidence.

Think that’s 28 goals in 65 starts now.

I'm still sticking with my assertion that outwith the old firm, he's the best centre forward in the league. On form he must be a nightmare to defend against.

Two really composed finishes tonight. More of that going forward and his numbers will be even more impressive.

    Delighted for him.

Good performance, 2 good goals and unlucky not to get the 3rd with his header.

Was anyone else very nervous when he was 1v1 though? 😅

With so much time a lot of strikers struggle in those situations. Cool as a cucumber though, first finish was very good as well, could’ve slashed at it but took his time and calmly slotted it in.

As already mentioned Doidge tends by his own admission to go on scoring streaks.Fingers crossed this is the start of a run that sees us to third place and the Cup Final

Not a big admirer but credit to him tonight. Took his chances well, the second in particular a very composed finish.

Agree with the second part. Was good tonight, well taken goals and only disappointment was he could have had another couple for himself! Hopefully him and Nisbet can both fire them in between now and the end of the season - sure they’ll both be hungry to do so.

Cant agree with your opening line (I don’t think he’s the best centre forward at Hibs) but like the enthusiasm and I’ve enjoyed his performances this season.

Heart was in my mouth when I seen it was him and not Nisbet or Boyle through for the 2nd goal. Great shift from the big man tonight though and can be more than happy with his contributions. Well done Chris.
