You’d think a Championship club would take a gamble on Leigh, no transfer fee and could easily pay double/triple what we could.
I'm no sure he'd go to hearts

I’m in two minds about this.

Great player who’s still got a couple of top years in him.
    Guaranteed goals
Focal point of the attack and brings badly needed quality
Low risk. We know what he can do
We rarely get a chance to sign someone of this quality so we should take advantage of his allegiance

    Unlikely to be 100% motivated
    Best years are behind him
    He’s seen it all before
Better that we invest in someone younger with more potential

Hmmm. Confused. The acid test would be whether I’d be happy to see him line up against us in an Aberdeen shirt. Absolutely not.

Bring him back on a 2/3 year deal if it fits within our wage structure

I suspect Nisbet will move on in the summer. Doidge, Leigh and A.N. Other (the next Nisbet) would do me fine😎😂

A striking line up of of Doidge, Griffiths, A.N Other (Sheilds from QOTS?) and Gullane is promising.

Is Shanley still on the scene?

With regards to investing in someone younger with more potential - there’s nobody that jumps out right now as that guy.

If there was currently a Shankland at Ayr or a Nisbet at Dunfermline on the scene then I’d agree that’s when a decision needs to be made. As it is, I don’t see any obvious better options than Griffiths on a free transfer.

    I would tend to agree.

But...here’s a Hypothetical choice. Keep Nisbet or get Griffiths?

Putting aside the sentimental and partisan factors, I don’t think Griffiths at £5k plus per week is a gamble Hibs would be willing to take. I can’t see him going back down to England so it’s no stretch of the imagination to assume that Aberdeen, with Scott Brown there, are his most likely option.

Interesting one, Griffiths for me all day.

I'd accept us selling Nisbet and getting Griffiths this summer.

Good option for a club who holds a player that clubs are looking to spend money on, I just can’t see this being the case here. If Celtic trigger the extra year Leigh will sit tight, fight for a place and pick up 3 or 4 times more than what he would anywhere else up here......and rightly so given his age and limited years left in football.

Celtic will only trigger the extension so as they can get a fee for Leigh but seeing as he will not be wanting to go down south, no one up here has money for a fee for him, so Celtic will look to get him off the wage bill and use his money elsewhere. Remember he only cost Celtic around £1.5m so they've had their monies worth out of him.

I think Griffiths would be a great signing. He’s an excellent player, of course there is a risk that he doesn’t hit the heights he did previously, but the reward if he does makes it a chance worth taking.

He gives us something different to Doidge and Nisbet, and if he knew he was the main man for us, I’m certain that he’d deliver.

I get the point about looking for an up and coming player with sell on value, but i think you need a balance and off you can underpin the potential of some players with experience and quality of others (as Leigh would bring) then it’s a great mix.

It’s a big “yes” from me if we can do it.

At this point, we should just sign him to give closure to all the nonsense, patter, and excited emojis we've been reading on here for the last 8/9 years.

I'd be surprised if Leigh didn't want to stay and fight for a place at Celtc Park - he's likely to see reduced competition as there's almost guaranteed to be big money bids for Eduoard and El Yiounnousi from Premiership or European sides, and the incoming manager is likely to want the opportunity to assess the full squad at his disposal before players start to leave.

Though Scott Brown has apparently been a great support to Leigh over the years, so perhaps that's why this story has reared its head.
Elyounoussi belongs to Southampton so Celtic can't sell him .

Danger sign for me with Griffiths, that no poster has mentioned yet, is that he should have been trying to the max this season to win the £1 million contract extention but he still couldn't motivate himself and that has to be a worry.

If you could get Griffiths, you’d have to take the chance for me.

Hibs seem to have been quite inventive with transfers over the last few years, I’m sure we could work something out to incentivise him at the same time as looking after ourselves if we ran in to any problems with him.

If he was playing week in, week out he’d score plenty. Whether he would be or not is obviously the gamble.

OK Matty. You are the man offering the contract. What do you offer?

I reckon a 2 year contract at £4k a week with starting appearance bonus of £1k per game.
Year 2 of contract triggered by starting 65% of league games in Year 1.
    In essence a £200k gamble.

Put him in line with the rest of the team, imho. He’d deserve to come in at the top end of our budget/earners.

    That makes sense.
The challenge is keeping him fit and getting him to the starting line every week.

A fit Leigh Griffiths would score goals for fun in this present Hibs team, I'd have him back in a heartbeat for next as I think we'll be even better.

Would definitely improve our squad so it’s a big yes from me.

I also think it’s a strong possibility he’ll be with us next season. Can’t see him going to another club in Scotland.

I’m still on the fence but if we could get him within our wage structure it’s probably a no brainier. If i was an Aberdeen fan I’d be worried about his attitude/motivation if he signed for them. I’d say if there’s one club who could get him mentally in the mood it’s us.

I’d still want to keep KN though, i think we’re still to see the best of him. I’d guess it’s Porto who will be moving on in the summer.

I've no reason to believe that Hibs are even considering him, but I tend to think it would work out at Hibs.

I'm convinced that playing for us, in a decent side and in European competition would be a real motivator for Leigh.

As much as I like Nisbet and Doidge, I tend to think the Griffiths would be quite a step up from either of them (at present, anyway).
