    Alan Stubbs Event

    Hey All,

Apologies if this is in the wrong forum just wondering if anyone has any idea what’s happening with the audience with Alan Stubbs evening? I’ve popped the capital events page a couple of messages and not had a reply just wondering if anyone else bought tickets and if anyone has an update as I had bought them for my dads 60th.

    Thanks In advance

The event organiser will have no idea when it will go ahead as does most of the event jndustry regards concrete dates , in England they have at least stated some dates... It's a very long and dark tunnel with a glimmer of hope for smaller events over the next couple months but will prob be a long time until the industry is given capacities it will find manageable. The event in question will certainly need more than 50 peoplle to make it work and those people will more than likely want a bevvie during the event (that won't be allowed to start with) so it won't be happening any time soon.

First industry to close last industry to open.

On the subject of Alan Stubbs, does anyone else not think that Celtic dud Barkas looks very like Stubbsy?

Think it’s the one that plays/played bowls. Always came across a right tool if it is.

Anyone who spent that much on tickets for that event which was advertised with a flier that looks like it was made on Microsoft paint needs their heeds examined.

He had a shirt framing / memorabilia shop in Gorgie Road, then Ocean Terminal and Gyle.

    Was an excellent bowler.

Not seen or heard of him for ages.

He was indeed Scoop, anytime I played him he just came across as rather arrogant. Hope all those who have fell victims get their cash back but I somehow doubt it. Hope the police are involved.

Now that's where I remember him from. Lad in my old office went in there once and came back complaining that the guy was an total conman.

He was a colourful character as a bowler, banned from both Gorgie Mills and Bainfield, ended up at Juniper Green, decent bowler though.

Very good bowler but always been a bit of a tool. Wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him.

Used to be prolific on Facebook but unsurprisingly has been silent for a while.

Also played for Parkside and Haddington, possibly more.

He qualified for Ayr a few years ago and was televised live in the quarters. An umpires decision went against him and he literally broke down on the spot.

Apart from his shop on Slateford Road the last I heard he was pursuing an acting career, possibly appearances on River City but I may have that wrong.

Unfortunately he has let too many people down over the years and he looks to be in real trouble this time.

Didn't Stubbs confirm it was a real event and possibly even others? All got sacked in.

If it wasn't for the pandemic it would have gone ahead as planned and would probably have been a success.

    However.............

However he seems to have absconded with £50,000 of other people's money?

It was genuinely set up and the people were genuinely booked but does that mean it was a genuine event?
