A statue dedicated to the founders of the club outside the west stand. Friendlies against our opponents we played in the European Cup 70th anniversary. These could be pre season games or played during the season depending on European qualification.
A 3 stand display when we play Hearts.
The 1972 strip the official strip for the season.

Not knowingly, but eager to learn, I doubt that too many exploratory photos would exist., it’s not like they had much resource. I have the Lugtons as reference but other than that nothing. I did start to talk to the Church about records a while back, but they are not the easiest to deal with. My family are gone (believe it or not even researching them are difficult as Easter 1916 destroyed a lot of records) and I’m heavily reliant on memories and whatever social media throws up. I did see the Edinburgh Association trophies, a long time back when St Pats were very, very protective of them and they were considered folklore. They were very real as you know and happily now shared.
are these trophies now safely in the hands of the club at Easter Road? Or still in the vaults at St Pats?

I thought the church had loaned them to Hibs. If the Historical Trust are looking in, they might know.

I have a very early team pic on a glass lantern slide which looks like it was taken in St Mary’s Street Hall . If I can work out how to get a good enough pic & find the slide I’ll post it on here .

Club could commission artists to design gates for entrance to East stand and both ends of west stand.

Good thread this. Club will always be looking in - not just me -
so ideas (standard, traditional and creative) always welcome.

I’d roll out our ‘first to wear the green n white hoops’ shirt as a 3rd kit, just for the bites.

Appreciate your time is nearly up KP - would be good to know if its even on the clubs radar yet (doubtful) or if there's any discussion of a working group?
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, vodka in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming, "WOO HOO what a ride!"

I would be all for a white strip with green trim with a Harp over the breast 1875-2025

Why not play Hearts for a prestigious trophy to mark the occasion and just to keep things authentic Hearts have to play with three men short for the first 20 minutes

Anyone on here remember the queuing up outside Thins in 1975 to buy the book 100 years of Hibs and getting it signed by the first team squad at the time.

    Name the stands.

West ;Canon Hannan Stand or Hannan Stand.

    South ; St Patrick's Stand
East; St Mary's or Cowgate Stand
    Or vice versa

    Training ground ; Hibernian Park

Play with original strip for the season
    Home or away
I mind D/Utd did that on their centenary (Green top)

Pre season tourney with Clubs we had relationship with in early days.
Maybe Preston North End, Arsenal and Aston Villa.
    Also a club from Ireland.
Possibly from Limerick (Canon Hannans home county )or St Patricks FC
Playing for a trophy with a Harp design.
    Proceeds to local/.city charities

    And charge1875 prices(just joking)

    Nothing traditional ,mind you !!

Just this old guys thoughts !

It’s well noted and in mind but no formal discussions as of yet (main focus at the moment is navigating this landscape and preparing for fans to return to Easter Road - a massive moment). Definitely a blank canvas therefore threads like these definitely help for when a taskforce or working group gets up and running.

I've written before about my family connections going back to the founding of Hibs with my great grandfather being an original member of The Hibernians. He was married in 1873 with Father Edward Hannan officiating. My grandad was then born in 1875. For myself I was born in St Mary's St, about 30 yards from the Halls & I have a childhood memory of being at a function there. I was also with Gerry Docherty, of 100 Years of Hibs fame, when we discovered the 2 beautiful trophies mentioned above. A picture of them appears in the book & I thought they were on permanent loan to ER. A nice thread & some great thoughts for our anniversary.

    Prestigious trophy, indeed.
But against opponents that have some prestige.

Celtic actually played their first season in white shirts so actually should we be singing we were the first to wear the white? they didnt play in green and white hoops until 1904, they played their early seasons in green and white strips well for a good 15 seasons. We did play in green and white hoops first but they hardly stole or copied them. Tin hat on, glass of wine for anesthetic

they’ve stolen anything they’ve ever had, that lot

apart from ‘67. That was glorious I’ll give them that. Even if it was under a legendary manager they nicked from us

Yeah. Went straight from school. Queued for what seemed like ages.
Signed by Higgins, Harper, Duncan, Cropley & Gordon

Have since purchased another copy with different signatures.
Stanton, Schaedler, Gordon, Bobby Smith, Brownlie, Blackley

Assistance for John Campbell to publish the 3rd book in his trilogy. I recall reading a while back John saying the book was almost ready to go but publisher issues prevented it from happening.

Maybe the club could help out? Make it official.

Also bring it up to date to (2025) with either a 4th Volume from Jonnyboy or, if John isn’t able to do so, another scribe or expert Hibs historian to ghost write it jointly with John or a collective effort from volunteers.

Perhaps a few events at ER. Would love to see the Proclaimers play there, could also introduce an open training day at the stadium around the time (something I would like to see at least once or twice every summer anyway).

As it would land in August then perhaps we could get along a few club legends to make an appearance and bring them out at our first home league game of the season. On that note I remember there being talk of potentially Suazee coming back for a game? Hopefully that can be arranged after covid.

On a separate forum (collector stuff, not on here) I was chatting about St Mary’s Street Halls. It’s a place close to my heart and I wrote, a long time back on here, about how I came from that beautiful part of the world, the church and the school, all my family did, all that stuff
I’m not sure what the halls actually are now, they look like workshops or split office space but at one time they were what we might now term a community hub (communion parties were held nowhere else) yet they are obviously, clearly, huge to our club origins. CYMS in the 19th Century were Cubs and Scouts in the 20th.
The idea of a plaque is something I would get behind and be active with if I could whatever it took.I’ve noticed that there are now ‘Little Ireland’ street signs appearing around the Cowgate and lower Pleasance. Different ideology from those chaps maybe, but it can be done and done properly.

The club threw itself into the plaque unveiling at St Pats on the 17th March 2013 and so did the church. It was packed.

150 years of Hibernian is absolutely monumental and we have a tangible, solid attachment to a community and its dwellings that other clubs just do not have.
    Monument might be the tag.

Back in Canon Hyland era when the church was getting some refurbishing mass was held in the St Mary Street Halls for a few weeks. The main hall hadn't changed at all and Canon Hyland was waxing lyrical about our history although he was a Celtic man. The late Alan Lugton was a regular attendee as were a number of well-kent ER faces.

When the Redemptorists took over the church still held the Edinburgh Association cups and as part of a further refurbishment fundraiser, you could get your photo taken with them up n the St Pats altar for £5 which i did. They were subsequently gifted to the club with an on-pitch ceremony. I would like to hope they are on prominent display along with other historical memorabilia.

It's great to see the "Little Ireland" signage up around the area and some of those behind that initiative are staunch Hibbies

The 1875 kit (brown belt optional) with the original badge as a one off 150th centenary strip is what Id go for together with the various celebrations you and others have sugested
