Well before my time playing wise but he was obviously an all time Scottish great.
I enjoyed him on the TV too (it's weird that Jimmy Greaves is being discussed on another thread this very day).
RIP the Saint.

I remember you used to get a guid laugh on the ‘ Saint and Greavsie Show ‘ on a Saturday noon before setting off for the fitba
They never took themselves too seriously
Ian St John scored the fastest ever hat-trick at Easter Road for Motherwell three goals in as many minutes
A Liverpool Motherwell and Scotland great
Deepest sincerest condolences to family and friends

RIP the genial Saint.
Used to love Saint and Greavsie back in the day - a football show that was a genuine one off and was worth getting out of bed for on a Saturday am. From what I can gather that was the tip of the iceberg in terms of the entertainment provided by that pair but they were way before my time as football players. If that had been all they'd done though they'd still be legends - RIP!

Quinn.Great wee centre forward and former team mate of our Pat Quinn.
Always remember the tv quote back in the 60's when a ä Scouser was asked on a current affairs show
"What would you do if Christ came to Liverpol"'?
'Move St John to inside right'" was the answer

A friend of mine used to drive the Portsmouth team coach in St John's time there. He had nothing but praise for St John and reckoned he was one of the nicest people he had ever met.

He was the author of the (entirely correct) expression "They'll be dancing in the streets of Raith".Last edited by CropleyWasGod; 02-03-2021 at 02:48 PM.

Christian grafitti on a wall:
What will you you do when Jesus returns to Earth?
Response came:
Move St John to inside right!
