Lower division Guatemalan football has never received so much attention.

Craig Thomson just tried to award Hearts a penalty when he saw that.

There was a match in the Championship I think when we played Rangers and Scott Allan got bombarded with paper balls as he tried to take a corner..I think Rangers had put leaflets on evert seat and the Rangers fans used them as (not very offensive, but very annoying) missiles. I remember the commentators saying very little about it and the ref taking no action. Even as he tried to take the corner they were still raining down on him.

It was the play off match and the referee was shocking in not stopping the game to allow police to sort it.

There were more than paper balls being thrown. It was the promotion play off game. Still, no headlines of "eleven Hibs players battered at Ibrox" after that.

Nice detective work, thanks for clearing it up (the disagreement about which match it was, that is...I'm not implying you went on the pitch and cleaned up all the stuff thrown by Rangers fans )

I was in a pub in Stonehaven watching it post work at the time, only for the pub to be swamped by Rangers fans five minutes in. They did really good pints so I didn't want to move

Fair enough - I would have put money on it being a floodlit match.

    Maybe it happened twice???

It was the play off match but also a midweek match, the home leg was the following Saturday IIRC.

watch from 19 minutes and look out for missile landing nowhere near anyone about 19.23 - I remember the RV player came out of Celtic Park afterwards with his head bandaged up.

Celtic ended up having to go to Old Trafford as UEFA believed that the RV player they went out of the competition.
I was travelling up the M6 North on the day of the Old Trafford game, incredible number of buses and cars heading south.
