Exactly what we’re missing. Another negative from the Heckingbottom era

Crazy we let him go and replaced him with mark milligan

    A real leader.

Efe ambrose as well, would take in a heartbeat over any of CBs

Bartley was awful with us in his final 18 months. He’s had a new lease of life there but showed nothing in his final months at ER that he was worth keeping. Nice to see him doing well though.

Bartley didn't lead anything for Hibs. Offered basically nothing in his last 18 months here. Looks great in a hoofball side but Marv is miles from the answer for Hibs. Can you actually imagine us trying to move the ball forward with him in there...

Bizarre folk still go on about us missing him. Its Mcgeouch and McGinn we miss.

Looks great in a hoofball team? He’d look fantastic for us then

Like Gogic, Marv isn't the man you look to when you're expected to have a lot of the ball. We already play with a defensive mid too often. If you're a hibs midfielder you must add something going forward and in possession.

These guys are good players, but specialists for a team like us.

so true. That's either or main tactic or a safety blanket the players fall back into under the slightest bit of pressure

Efe is the bigger miss. He'd cost us a goal or two a season but save us 6-7. Plus his distribution with the ball was vital for us avoiding the hoof we see too often now.

Bartley is a better player than Gogic.

Bartley is a better leader than 95% of our squad.

Hibs should never have left the club - especially for Derbies.

    Thread over.

I'd rather have efe back than marv.

We are not a hoofball team, so no, I don't think he would.

I think we miss him as much off the pitch as we do on it.

So many of our players lack character or some sort of X factor you can't define.

Bartley had charisma, confidence, swagger and heart for a battle.

It's fine saying the other players who left were the ones we missed and a reasonable argument could be made that we needed better than Bartley but it can't really be argued that at any point since we left have we had someone as good as him.

I think we've missed him since he left and I don't think it's just a coincidence that Livi punch way above their weight with him in the team and playing every week.

He deserved to play more for us before he left.

As thing stand Livi are a far superior side to us and he's a big part of their team. It would be a bold call to make to think we'll stay ahead of them this season as they're playing well and we're dropping like a stone.

Are we not? What do you call our style of play where one of our CH’s shell it up to the forward on almost every occasion?

They don't, though. The majority of passes our defenders make are on the ground.

Spot on. It’s a boot upfield or Porteous trying the same 40 yard diagonal 10 times a match (which teams have totally sussed out).

Do you ever have anything positive to say about the Club you follow?

Not when there isn’t much to be positive about just now

I’ll be more than positive when everything’s going well

Is there anything wrong with what I’ve said either? It’s exactly what I’ve been watching us do for the majority of the season

    Oh here we go.

All I read on here when Bartley was signed for us was that he wasn’t good enough on the ball, too slow and was only required in about 20% of games. Not needed in most games when we have the majority
    of the ball etc.

Bartley was good today and has been very good for Livingston, he suits them perfectly. That doesn’t mean we need or miss him.

All the players in our team could go to teams in the league and look good for them as they’ll have a consistent run, feel for confident as they’ll probably be one of the better players, feel more important and have less expectations on them from the fans.

    Bartley, Oli Shaw etc

It will be the same when Mallan leaves. He will get a good consistent run in his best
position and feel appreciated. He will score and assist a lot and people will be questioning why we let him go.

Newell and Irvine are far better players than him.

A simple 'no' would have been sufficient.

It isn’t as simple as a “no” answer though is it. You’ve asked me if I’m ever positive and I’ve told I am when there’s a reason to be.

If you’re not going to be happy with the answer don’t ask the question 👍🏼

Bartley was decent in the games that turned into battles like Derby games but he had players around him who would also be up for the fight.
He has had his time here the biggest mistake was not having replaced him and a few others with similar type of character.
While we might have signed what appears to be decent players there is no one you can rely when it needs some dig and fight.

They only pass it on the ground when they’re passing it sideways or backwards. Pretty much every forward pass is a hoof, which as we saw last night, doesn’t really work against competent centre-halves.

I’m not say we should get him back, but he was far from “awful” in his last 18 months with us.

We started the season well due to the opposition teams not knowing how Hibs would play under Ross. Now we are sussed and Bartley and Ambrose are missed.

Come the end of the season, I suspect Livi will finish above us.

I too would rather have Efe Ambrose, very good centre back and s great influence on Porteous unlike Hanlon

Not true either. Plenty of passes into the feet midfielders.
