I was just flicking through the line-ups at the start of the season when it all seemed to be going well. It was a fairly straight forward 442 with Newell and Gogic in the centre and Boyle and Horgan/Murphy wide with Doidge and Nisbet up front. The defence were pretty much the same every week after the first fixture. Barring Newell every player that played in that successful period was available tonight and Jackson Irvine or Hallberg could have stepped in for Newell. The old saying KISS seems to come to mind when thinking about Jack Ross.

Since then we’ve probably not got enough from our wingers. The centre midfield comes in for stick but a 2 of Gogic and Newell or Newell and Hallberg has usually done well.
Think we are trying too much to fit in different players without really working on how we play with them.
3 in the middle is fine too but would prefer that to mean 3 at the back and keeping the main 2 strikers rather than 1 or a 3. Don’t recall us getting much playing that way.

Said on another thread that not starting Doidge was a big error. He is excellent in our box, and could have made a difference in first two goals.
