Think the Hibs press conference is today, so should get an update on the likes of Rocky etc
I’d imagine Ross won’t give anything away, same as before the last semi final.

Might not be popular but Boyle hasn't been at it for weeks. Maybe drop him to bench and play Cadden from start and use him as an impact sub when they are tiring.

It’s not the occasion to be doing this

I think we look a better team without him in all honesty.

When? We’re hardly ever without him. No other wise player comes close to contributing what he has this season, even if he’s not been brilliant.

Absolutely agree actually thought he was coming on to a bit of form in December. He is one of our biggest threats especially if against Tanser who think isn't the best defensively.

A full week of training for the new guys will definitely help with settling in etc. Really think both semis could go either way. Forecast for Glasgow on Saturday doesn't look too bad. Not like last time!
Wonder what the squad is able to do when weather not great. Suppose artificial pitch an option of clearing and using if snow covered.

Takes an absolute battering both on here and in games yet his numbers tell a whole different story (reminds me of James Forrest with Celtic fans). Marked by two players, booted up and down the place, yet still hits decent numbers (think he has about 10 goal involvements this season in the league so far). Boyle Murphy and Nisbet must start, in reality we have maybe one or two spots up for grabs. If they’re all fit Rocky, McGinn, Porteous, Hanlon, Doig, Newell, Nisbet, Murphy and Boyle all start. The other two centre mid slots or one centre mid slot with Doidge are the only questions to be answered.

I'd be very wary of starting Marciano.

He's been out with a muscular problem and already pulled out of a squad in the warm up. We can't afford to be subbing a keeper for a pre existing injury during the game in a tie that could go for 120+ minutes.

Macey has looked really assured in the games he has played and appears a more than capable deputy. He's not some untried youngster who is going to be overawed by the occasion either.

Was sitting on the fence on this but I agree, given the potential for ET and pens, not just 90 mins. Imagine if Macey has to sub on for Rocky then gets injured himself towards the end of ET. Who's the goalie for the pens? Nightmare scenario. But I'd go Nisbet. Decent height, sharp reactions.

Hopefully we don't get to the stage of putting our top scorer in goals

I see Mackie in the photo in that link which would suggest he is getting close to being fit which would give us a full squad to choose from.
Just a case of getting a few of them up to full speed over the next couple of weeks.
If we can get through Saturday things are looking up for the 2nd half of the season................unless a striker gets injured

Have people noticed that the Saints have been mouthing off in the press everyday? Little from Hibs which is great. Keep the powder dry for the game.

Yeah we’ve had a fairly ***** time of it with injuries recently, to the point where we couldn’t field a full bench. Having options back and available when other teams might lose players from fairly small squads would be a huge bonus.

    Rocky
    McGinn Porteous Hanlon

    Boyle Irvine Newall Doig
    Murphy

    Nisbet Doidge

3-5-2 getting Murphy more central and more involved is how I'd play it

They were doing it before our game at Easter Road a while back too.

This could be the first time we've had a full squad to pick from this season.

    My starting 11.

    Marciano

    McGinn
    Porteous
    Hanlon
    Doig

    Gogic

    Boyle
    Irvine
    Newell
    Murphy

    Nisbet.

I like Doidge and think he would come on but am sick and tired of seeing our midfield being overrun.

It's a good point and one i agree with. I think St Johnstone will try and do exactly that and flood the midfield so we'll need to match up.

I like that team. I too am fed up with our midfield at times.

Opens up some criticism for Jack Ross though if we get beat though.

'Started with far too negative a line up'

One up top in a cup semi final. Playing devils advocate here Scoop not diminishing your thoughts.

I'd go a 442 diamond with attacking wingbacks.

    Rocky

    McGinn
    Porteous
    Hanlon
    Doig

    Gogic

    Irvine
    Newell

    Murphy

    Boyd
    Nisbet

I've gone with identical players but with the diamond, I suppose the 2 teams are similar and could flow between the 2 shapes.

Gogic has been many folks' MoM last two games. He will start. So we'll need more "footballers" in the midfield, hence one recognised striker. It's not negative. In Boyle, and to a lesser extent Murphy, we'd have folk to get forward to support Nisbet. The footballers in midfield just need to move the ball forward into space more swiftly and with more penetration than they have been doing, not taking a few touches and passing it back to Hanlon or Porteous to belt it long.

I get you Andrew but I don't think it's particularly negative, I see Boyle and Murphy as positive players and I suppose you could restructure the 11 players and make it a 4-3-3. They must do their share of graft in there though.

Agree with your team good mix of pace attacking threat and athleticism. One thing I would say is get shots into Clark in goals as not hugely convinced by him.
