    Thankx
I don't see a reason for changing the side that started on Saturday. It would be good to have players like Doig, Newell, Mageniss on the bench for the latter part of the game. For me both Hallberg and Gogic did enough to start the back four pick themselves, and Murphy, Nisbet and Boyle are essential. I think that only leaves the question does Newell get Irvine's place with a view to Irvine coming on later and that's a possibility I suppose.

Macey doesn't deserve to lose his place. Id be inclined to go for the same team apart from Newell for Hallberg. Hallberg has done nothing wrong either. Difficult one for the manager.

We’ve made the mistake of not going with our number one keeper in a semi final before. Marciano should play if fit.

Who is it on the right of that photo ?

Is it an old photo and it’s one of the Americans? The boy Crawford?

Back four picks itself? Lewy or Doig?

    Will Doig be fit?
Doig every day of the week, was our best player before going off at Celtic park, and was very impressive second half again on Saturday. We need his attacking dimension.

Don't think Kerr has played their last couple of games.
Kerr played right of their back 3 last game.

    Macey

    McGinn
    Porteous
    Hanlon
    Doig

    Irvine
    Gogic
    Newell

    Boyle
    Nisbet
    Murphy

Hampden should be a better pitch so we need to get Boyle more involved than he was on Saturday if possible. If they double up on him then go through Murphy. An early goal to settle the nerves would be nice. We need to win this and win this cup. We may not get a better chance than this for years.

Assuming they do play a back 3 then we 100% need to play boyle high on their back line. Exploit his pace. Maybe even play him behind the front 2 instead of Irvine. Loads of options now.

I'm guessing last years league cup where Maxwell started and Rocky was on the bench?

    Team for the Semi !

lets look at Saturday 1 up front against a poor side 1 up front does not work IMO

So we,re possibly up against 3 at the back

    Macy
    P McGinn
    Hanlon
    Porteous
The above picks its self we have an issue in midfield for me Boyle is not producing enough. I think we need a pressing hard working midfield the thing is do we leave out Boyle Upfront again big Doige has not been performing but is a pest

    Midfield
    Halberg, Newall, Irvine, Doig Murphy

    Nisbet and Gullan

League Cup against Celtic. Laidlaw played instead of Marciano. We were 2-0 down in no time. He was definitely at fault for one and the other was soft as well I think.

Ok was Maxwell not first choice at that time? Might also be the one Ross Laidlaw played and had a bit of a mare the year before.

True enough didn't realise Marciano was fit to play not a great decision that

I'd be leaving Boyle on the bench. Playing him in the hope that he turns up is too much of a risk. I hear the cries of he could do this and could do that, gamechanger etc and all that stuff, but we've waited too long for him to come good, and the likelihood of that happening attract good odds.

    Time for change.

He’s not been brilliant but he’s the only wide player we have who has actually chipped in with a decent number of goals and assists this season. He definitely won’t be left out.

Up until the Livi and Ross county games he was very good. There’s no way Boyle will be on the bench, more so because we have zero other options for there, but also because he occupies two players leaving space elsewhere.

I’m really not sure what he will do, Newell will come back into the starting 11 but I’m not sure who will miss out.

Hallberg and Gogic put in a power of work against Kilmarnock and we’re both good defensively, putting themselves about and winning the midfield battle. Irvine is clearly lacking match fitness however there’s only one way to improve that, he’s been brought in to play but is it too much of a risk to play him in the semi?

It was our first win in 4 on Saturday, do you change a winning team?

I always think we look more of a threat with 2 up top and Doidge playing, I also think it would cause a lot of problems for St Johnstone’s back line.

Hampden is a big pitch and you imagine will be in good condition which will suit the ball being played on the ground.

Presuming the injuries are still the same as the Kilmarnock team i think we will see

    .......................Macey..............

    McGinn.....Porteous.....Hanlon......Doig....

    ...............Gogic...........Newell.......

    Boyle................Irvine.................Murphy ......

    .......................Nisbet.........

    It would be very harsh on Hallberg imo but I think he’ll be hoping to get Irvine up to speed and you could see with some of the things he done on Saturday he’s a goal threat;

Header where he attacked it with aggression and just missed connection
Through ball to Nisbet in first half
Run beyond Nisbet and unlucky that the pass was over hit.

Not sure he will fancy playing 352 at Hampden and leaving potentially a lot of room for St Johnstone to hit us on the counter once Doig etc are bombing on.
Thats the team id pick ..perfect line up

Newell for Irvine would be the only change for me. If Newell isn’t fit then probably Mallan should play. This is a huge game for us and we can’t afford to have a half fit player in the middle of the pitch. Maggenis might come into consideration if fit, but I’m not sure I’d be starting him either.
Saw enough to suggest he is more thnn half fit..he will be ahead of mallan ..and newell reckons he will in full training from wed so all good

    Some midfield.

Got a feeling whoever the keeper is they will need to have a good game.

We have had several semi finals over the years and many keeper performances stand out for various reasons.

I’m hoping our semi final earlier in the season has prepared us what to expect.

I’m hoping Murphy and Boyle are in the mood / get the service to be dangerous as they can be match winners.

James and Vela were like playing with 2 players down.

You could argue the 7on the bench was a stronger group of players.

Yeah looking at that, all 7 should’ve been starting
