Noted on this afternoon's Sportscene, Thomo tried to raise the matter about Dundee Utd's pitch being frozen, and started to speak about undersoil heating. Fud Currie said they would talk about that later. Unless I missed it, they didn't. If the heating was on why is pitch frozen?
If so same applies why was the Livi v Ross County moved to tomorrow due to frozen pitch so soon?

Livvi v County was called a couple of days ago, to play tomorrow
Think Utd v Saints has been rescheduled for this Tuesday
Meanwhile 100 yards along the road, Dundee’s game v Bonnyrigg is on tonight?

Not sure about United but I don't think Livi have undersoil heating.

I'm not sure if that's one of them but the SPFL removed a number of rules of Premier League membership.

Undersoil heating is not fail safe. Depends on the settings, when it is switched on, efficiency of the system etc. It should be used in advance of freezing temperatures as a preventative measure, not retrospectively as a "defrost". Even so, in extreme temperatures and deep frost, even the max settings may not be enough to keep the entire pitch frost free. It is often small areas which deem a pitch unsafe. This is obviously exacerbated if there is already high moisture content in the ground.

I think Livingstone were expecting minus temperatures Friday into Saturday but the temperature to rise come Sunday so asked for a switch to have more chance of the game being on

Most of the undersoil heating is years old as is the drainage, no point in switching on if the pipes underneath are frozen!
Remember, most undersoil heating is between the white lines, and the drainage pipes run around under the track sides.
