Those of a certain age, like me, will remember Colin Bell playing in a fine Man. City team. He's reported to have passed away today.

Was one of the few England players I had any time for. Always pictured in Shoot or Goal wearing his chef hat. Great footballer. RIP Colin.

Now he would been a perfect replacement for John McGinn
What a player he was. Box to box.Last edited by CMurdoch; 05-01-2021 at 08:34 PM.

Sad news. Malcolm Allison always said Colin Bell was the best player he ever worked with.

Great player. Elegant like Stanton. Was synomous with Match of The Day on a muddy Maine Road pitch.

Wembley 1975
I was at the Wembley game 1975.
Colin Bell scored just after half time and its true he was a magnificent player. His nickname was Nijinsky but on that pitch that day there was only one Nijinsky and he was not wearing an England shirt.
Remember my old man telling me the reason Gordon Smith didn't reach the dizzy heights for Scotland (but still better than Willie Waddell) was that he never had enough Hibs players around him.
That was true that day, with our Nijinsky, starved of the ball! There were a few dumplings in that team that no way, were better than some Hibs players who never got a look in.
That finally leads me nicely to the Scotland goalie.
If younger netters think Hibs have had a few poor goalies in recent years, you ought have seen this boy. Only way he was picked was because he was playing for Rangers.
Colin Bell ....you would walk into any team today
You were a footballer.
RIP

More sad news. Colin Bell was one of those perennials of ‘Shoot’, ‘Goal’ and footballer cards.

When I did the Man City tour a couple of years ago, the old guy doing it said "Colin Bell was the best player he'd seen till David Silva arrived at the club".
