    David Syme

David Syme passed away today after a short illness aged 76.

Referreed many Hibs games during the 80’s & 90’s (booed off in many no doubt!)

Many will remember him but a tragic episode which linked home to Hibs was that he was playing golf with Joe Baker when Baker sadly collapsed and died on the course during a charity tournament, despite David Symes efforts to administer first aid.

Sorry for his family’s loss but he was a brutal ref. One of our supposed top men too.

Spent a good bit of my youth booing him and I'm sure he had more than his fair share of howlers against but very sad to hear he has died. A slice of football past moves on.
