    Kevin McCarra - RIP

I was shocked to read that Kevin McCarra died of Alzheimer's yesterday. He was only 62.

Didn't know - thanks for posting. Used to read him years ago, before he went to work down south. Always wrote really well, and was one whose articles you looked out for. That's very sad news indeed.

Had the pleasure of his company a couple of times.

He was a brilliant journalist and a thoroughly nice person.

One of the times I met him was after a game at Parkhead . He was dumbfounded by the quality of a late Steven Tweed qualiser against his beloved Celtic, he was not at all being disrespectful about Tweedy but said that of all the players on the park the big man (a centre half remember) would have been the last one he would have predicted to come up with such a sublime finish. He went on about it for ages and was highly amusing.

He had been unwell for some time.

Gone at just 62 from Alzheimer’s, a tragedy. Rest in a Peace Kevin.

That’s very sad to hear. I used to listen to the Guardian Football podcast regularly, and whenever Kevin was on I enjoyed it a little bit more.
