We've actually had quite a lot of good players when you think about it. I started watching Hibs regularly around 1992 and in that time I'd say we've had 4 cracking teams - Miller's team where he lost the plot and started playing great stuff around 93-94, McLeish's team 2nd year after we got back up, the "golden generation" and then the cup winning team (and the year or two after). There was always the odd star outwith these teams too.

    Leighton

    Hunter
    Sauzee
    Jones

    Whittaker
    Jack
    McGinn
    Latapy
    Murphy

    Jackson
    O'Connor

Absolutely mad the players you have to leave out to pick that.

And to think that I think of us as having been quite crap most of the time.

My time as a Hibs fan is roughly equivalent to yours, so I’m gonna pick an entirely different 11 over the same time frame, just to prove your point.

    Goram

    Gray
    Ambrose
    Bamba
    Laursen

    Boyle
    Brown
    Beuzelin
    Collins

    Griffiths
    Riordan

Criminal behaviour leaving Gray out ever. Imo. McGregor broke my heart leaving him out but loved the other two.

Sauzees two best seasons was centre midfield but strolled it his year as sweeper.

Still no room for Gary Smith or Derek Collins either.

Think about it, you need a goal late on, you make a triple sub; Best beats any full back in the world, swings over a pinpoint cross on a 12 pint hangover, Zemmama executes a flying back heel and Amadou scores by pure willpower

Started watching in 1968..so looking forward from then only.

Given its a team game, I can't see past Turnbull's Tornadoes.

There have been better Individual players in many of the positions but knitting a team of 11+ players from those might not work.

I still hanker after their brand of football....but count my blessings having lived through it.

🤣🤣 it’s funny because it would happen. Big Amadou on his arse with his left shin sending us to champions league glory. Rocket shot from Le God of the bar twice.

I mean, you probably win, but fascinating to see teams from different eras.

Yeah but on another day I could have picked Big John MacNamee, John McGinn, Derek Riordan, Keith Wright, Joe McBride, Franck Sauzee or John Collins.

I may get laughed out of here but I remember big Shaun Dennis being absolutely immense then think he got a bad injury and wasn't quite the same. Absolute beast of a center half. A game against Celtic at ER stands out. Think they had just signed Alan Stubbs for big money and Dennis completely overshadowed him. I may of course be completely making that up.

    Just think of the midfielders.

    Johnstone,Turnbull and Combe

    Hamilton,Quinn and Cormack

    Stanton,Cropley and Edwards

    Sauzee,Latapy and O’Neil

    Beuzelin,Brown and Thomson

    McGinn,Allan and McGeouch

and individually rather than a unit

    Bremner
    Collins
    McGinlay

    Probably missed some.
This is why I can't choose a team.

Some of the above would be played out of position, but they're my all-time fav Hibs stars.

I really liked him too. Very under-appreciated player who put a good shift in for us.

More one for an unsung hero thread as we have had better centre halves in my opinion, but he was a very good player.

Excellent in the millennium derby iirc, along with Tom Smith, although others will get more credit.
