I was so disappointed at how the song turned out after such an epic intro.

Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath. Not only the intro to the 1st song on the 1st album but also to a new type of music. Even if you are not a Sabbath or even heavy rock fan have a listen and you'll get what I mean

‘Dreams Burn Down’ by Ride. Shoegazer-tastic.

’(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher And Higher’ by Jackie Wilson. An intro where your feet or fingers are tapping within the first bar.

’Get Ready’ by the Temptations. The intro sets you up for a quick-tempo Motown Classic.

‘Electricity’ by OMD. Electropop in fine form.

Good shout with Ride - although I would have gone for "Polar Bear" or "Leave Them All Behind".

Leave Them All Behind is a masterpiece.

You Might Think - The Cars

Elliot Easton is one of the most underrated guitarists ever. Some of the licks and riffs of his that you can pick out under the 80s 'noise' are sublime. I felt suitably vindicated a couple of years back when Slash named Easton as one of his favourite guitarists.

    Guiding Star - Cast.

Only a few bars but a quality intro.

Just happened to see the title of this thread while This Charming Man by The Smiths was playing on the radio. Cracking intro and I'm pretty sure we're still allowed to like the Johnny Marr bits.

The Smiths had loads of great intros, not necessarily long ones, but just a really tight sound from, Marr, Rourke and Joyce.

As per Billy Whizz’s post earlier in the thread, there are several Smiths songs I am confident I could name after hearing just the first note. And I can’t remember the last time I listened to them. That probably reflects how talented Marr and John Porter, their producer, were in exploiting sound.
