Loving what Hearts are doing over their with their young players, seem to punt the real talent our way!
JD is only going to get better as the season goes on.😄😄
It’s because they sign many more than Hibs do, because they’ve had a much bigger budget than Hibs
Whether they can afford to continue this, who knows

    Laddie looks a player.

His final ball let him down a few times tonight but that will come with experience. He's keeping a very good player out the side so that says it all about how he has done so far.

Always looking to get on the ball and seems to have that swagger a few of our youngsters have lacked in recent years.

He was with them since he was 7 years old. If he was released by them does that mean they don't retain any financial interest in him?

Yeah agree with that. Still a bit raw for sure but seems more than comfortable expressing himself which is great to see

I like how two footed he is. When he was cutting in on his right foot they couldn't stop him. We've got some really good assets just now. Porteous/Nisbet/Doidge/Doig/Boyle are all worth some serious dough.

Always on the front foot, so positive and bags of energy. Great to see.

    This. Makes such a difference

Last season watching Stevenson, nearly every time he got the ball you knew it was just coming inside and, generally, getting passed back to Paul Hanlon. The first thing in Doig’s mind is to carry it forward.

Looks like he’s growing in confidence as well. Quite liked it when the strikers were giving him a bit of grief in the first half for not getting the ball over. He wasn’t shy in sticking up for himself.

The boy is a real steal fi the jamfarts as well to make things all the better, bags of potential, and room to grow into a very fine full back.

I remember 1974 we done good then, can we do same again.

He played really well. going forward especially. Glad Jack Ross stuck with him after having a tough game against Killie.

They also rushed through their set up with Balerno under the instruction of Levein and Hearts and at the time (and now) I've heard criticism of their set up Billy. Doesn't surprise me one bit some of their (better) young players come to Hibs

Loads of energy, presses and reads the game great.

Don't remember him doing anything wrong tonight and he also played part in the goal. A really solid performance and can't see how Lewis gets the position back if it continues.

He got skinned once in the first half but overall he was great especially as we were not playing too well. What a find, definitely pushes us up the park naturally as he is such an athlete. Feet on the ground and the world’s his oyster🤒

    I didn’t know that
Clubs always have a decision to make at 16/17. Who do you keep on, who leaves, when you have to make a decision between 2 players
This is what happened with Gullan too, Hearts decided to go with someone else, and he was released

He’s very much the modern full back, he’s always looking to get forward and get beyond the midfield. It’s early days but he’s definitely got a chance.

When you have 'cheerleaders' like the winner that is Craig Levein, are you surprised

He was really unlucky with a few breaks of the ball going against him for United goal kicks when we could have had corners. I think of his kick has been in and we had won those corners, his contribution would have been even more noticeable.

He had a very good game, i hope he really pushes on this season.

Yes he was really unlucky that the ball deflected back of him a couple of times.

The people there who assess everyone who comes through their system on physical attributes first and football attributes second. They want them hefty and they want them dirty.

The man City boy gave him a tough time, but he never let him have it easy.

Him and Gogic men of match. No disrespect to Lewis but the left flank has been needing refreshment for a while.

A while is a bit much for me. Lewis has seen off about 10 left backs and even more managers. He only really dipped last season and the lack of pre season wont have helped that. Still a lot to offer.

I've been one of Lewy's staunchest supporters but he is back up now............we need(ed) a better option and a more athletic player in the top flight. He is great back up (and for midfield), but think we need far better in that position moving forward MW. Other sides targeted him last season and the season before, admittedly not helped by a chronic imbalance ahead of him in midfield.

Think exactly the same. Was a bit ropey at times defensively. But he's so young you definitely expect that.

Maybe a bit unlucky for him that he'll always be judged against Stevenson who is an exceptional defender.

Knowing Lewis though, even if Doig is keeping him out the team at present, Stevenson will still be giving him pointers on how to defend better.

Looks like the guy could have a real future at Hibs. Chuffed for him.

Delighted to confirm that he has been voted as MOTM by Hibernian Supporters. Punter in the Studio is just that, only one persons opinion.

Hope this proves of interest to the thread .

What sides targeted him? He really didn't get targeted defensively. Other side's let him have the ball because he rarely done anything with it but he never, ever got torn to bits defensively.

He is back up now, no doubt. He is not suddenly Pa Kujabi. Quality player for this club for near 15 years.
