Big game this Saturday, and a ground we haven’t done too well of recent
Wonder what Jack’s thinking of team selection and tactics
I’m hoping Porteous has recovered from his ankle knock, and Doidge is fit to start
After a winning start, it would be great to get the 3 points, and put a little bit of distance between Hibs and some of our competitors for a Euro spot

Next up Livingston

We haven't had a great record away to Livi recently, or on plastic pitches in general.
It's not going to be easy.

I’d be really worried about Porteous on that pitch

We’ve got such a bad record there I’ve no idea what to expect. I think we need to change the tactics and maybe go a bit more direct, play them at their own game.
United we stand here....

I'd go a similar type of team that lennon used to field at tynie. Or like we did last season when we won there.
Rocky
Mcginn
Mcgregor
Hanlon
Stevenson
Gogic
Newell DIAMOND MIDFIELD
Hallberg
Boyle
Nisbet
Doidge
Or the same team with Boyle upfront and Horgan/allan in the hole.

As far as i can see the main changes personnel wise for Livingston from last season are as follows:
Lost defender Ricki Lamie to Motherwell and replaced him with 22 year old Jack Fitzwater from WBA.
Fitzwater spent his time at WBA out on loan in the lower English league scene. Probably another big strong laddie. No5 and played the whole game in Saturdays loss to St Mirren.
Other changes:
Lost the mercurial Steven Lawless at the end of his contract. Lawless was their top man for assists last season so will be a loss.
They have brought in winger Alan Forrest from Ayr. Decent player and as most of you know, the brother of the Celtic winger. Played for an hour last Saturday before being substituted.
Livingston are still holding onto Lyndon Dykes and Efe is still strolling about doing his thing for them.
All in all, little change in them from last season so won't be easy i'm afraid, especially on their pitch.Last edited by CMurdoch; 05-08-2020 at 07:42 PM.

Maybe with previous injuries in mind I'd bring in Jackson for Porto.
Rocky
McGinn Jackson Hanlon
Boyle Allan Gogic Newell Doig
Doidge Nisbet
Maybe harsh on Wright, but feel like we need to start Boyle, Nisbet and Doidge (if fit enough to start). Boyle seems like he's in the mood so can't drop him, whilst Nisbet linked up well early Vs Killie but doesn't look like he can play the one man upfront role well. I think against Livi we need a presence up top so that's why I'd bring in Doidge too. Having the likes of Horgan and Wright to bring on off the bench late on in the game could be useful too.
As it always is away to Livi, it'll be a tough one, but they've lost key players during the summer. Hopefully we can catch them whilst their new players are finding their feet and grab 3 points.
I'm saying another 2-1 for the Hibees

their pitch is two yards wider and two yards shorter than ours, it's a crap surface but it's not tight

I’d have thought theirs was even smaller but I’m sure our pitch is about the biggest in the league. Same size as Hampden I think.

Livi don’t ship many goals at home, so whoever wins, it will be very tight.

I think we will go with the same team and formation as Saturday, maybe Doidge in for Doig and move Boyle to the right wing back and Drey to let. However I think Ross May be wary of dropping Doig as it would kill his confidence especially after being hooked after an hour on his debut.
We should have enough to beat Killie but it’s never an easy place to go.
With Allan, Newell, Porteous, Boyle, Wright, Nisbet and Doidge potentially all in the same starting 11 we have plenty of people that can score or create whether it’s from open play or set pieces.

Doidge will definitely start as much to help defensively at set pieces. Think Lewis might come in but personally would keep young Doig in. Tough physical battle as usual though get the view we can nick this.

If there 2 games of the season left and we were playing Livvi to secure a Euro place then aye, that would be a big game for us.
Talk of putting a gap between us and Euro rivals after one game of the season seems a wee bit premature to me though!
Interested to hear what you guys would class as a ‘small game’?!

I'd rather win now so we arent playing them for a Euro place with 2 games left.

A very winnable, loseable, drawable game, i think it will be one of these results.
If pushed i'd say a win.

A small game? Either a friendly or a game at the very end of the season where we're unable to move up or down a position - and isn't against Hearts.Mon the Hibs.
