Would he miss the Serbia match if he got booked on wednesday?

no, that was his 2nd one tonight so will miss wednesday, i'm just hoping 4 or 5 serbian players don't have to self isolate for the final.

Much better than Thursday night. A few really good performances tonight - I thought Declan Gallagher at the back was outstanding, as were McGinn, Dykes and Fraser. Thought both McGregor and McBurnie looked good when they came on too. Both played well and broke down Slovakia in the final 10 minutes.

How can you get offside from a free kick, schoolboy stuff, also how does Gallagher get a game before Porteous or Hanlon, totally baffling.
Another clean sheet for gallagher and yet another game unbeaten for Steve clarke.

Perhaps McTominay is actually a centre half??

    Great result. Well done Scotland.

Much better in these two games than he was last month.

Agreed. McBurnie and McGregor both done very well when they came on. They held onto the ball and kept it moving. Scotland looked composed tonight.

Nice to get the result but, God, I am so happy we saw genuinely World Class players in a Scotland shirt in the 60’s, 70’s even 80’s. Whatever happened to the entertaining, attacking and effective football we used to love. What have they done to the beautiful game???

  15. #3494
Sitting listening to Dykes it’s amazing that Boyle plays for Australia and Dykes plays for Scotland 😂

So Considine, who wasn't even in the original squad, is starting over Porteous, who was in the original squad?
Just catching up on this thread now, possibly went with Considine to remove the pressure from Porteous in a high stakes game. If Considine had a mare it's not like he had a long international career ahead of him whereas it could have been damaging for Porteous. I'm possibly giving Clarke too much credit.

More likely because Considine plays on the left but whatever the reason it was the correct one. Considine played well and Scotland got the result.

We need something different in place of McLean and Fleck in that system. Someone like Hallberg at Hibs to get on the ball and make runs beyond the strikers.

Yeah, I thought Considine played well too. Porto's time will come, no doubt.

Craig Levein on Radio Scotland full of praise for SJM, and saying he should be captain if Andy Robertson misses the next game. Tbh, he's talked a lot of sense and is obviously delighted. It's been a good night! Without going over the score, there was plenty inventive football on show, especially in the second half, which we've not seen from a Scotland team in a very long time.

Think/hope we'll see mcginn in that role for that next set of games, with Armstrong or Christie at 10.

Better happening in this game than in a Hibs game.

Anyway it's the defender who'll take the own goal anyway so Rocky should just forget about it. The defender should have cleared his lines or gone wide rather than kicking it into his own goal.

As was said in commentary, 21 competitive games at home, 3 losses, Belgium, Germany and Russia. There is definitely to build on. The way Clarke is going about it, reminds me verymuch of what i saw O'Neil do with Norn Ire

Top of our group and a one off game to get to a tournament. That’s something. It’s not pretty, but at least there are signs it might be starting to become effective.

Players missing tonight who enhance the team as well.

Seems a good comparison. We are not blessed with a great deal of technically gifted players but he has already developed a club like atmosphere. All the players know their roles in the team and fight hard for each other. Impressive that he has developed this so quickly and it bodes well for the future. People just need to set their expectations accordingly which I know is never going to happen

robertson picks up a cheap yellow card, that's him out on wednesday
Had a tenner on that at 3 to 1 thought that might happen.

Scotland were good and looks like Clarke is starting to build something. Some excellent passages of play in the second half and should have scored more than one. We have won a watch with Dykes

    Take off your blinkers, Jim.

You'd be screaming for it if happened to a Hibs player. No doubt you've wanted fouls for less. I certainly have.

Going to ground dramatically isn't against any football law. Pulling a player back, however, is.
No radge never a pen. No blinkers here.

Winning this group can get you a playoff for 2022 World Cup, if you don’t qualify from the qualification group.

Glad it's not only me. I've lost track of all of this. Why are we playing these games if we are in a final next month?
