Juha Riipa played against Hearts for one game as a trialist - think that has been covered on here recently. There was also a guy called Thorsten Schmugge who played in one game around that time - might have been vs Aberdeen but I could be making that up.

Wasn’t there a Moldovan boy who ended up being in charge of their national team.

Think he went to one of the Bristol sides when he didn’t get a deal with us.

    Testimitanu or something?

Anyone remember the big beast of a centreback that played in a friendly away to Berwick maybe closer to 10 years ago? He was a character and a half, ordering everyone around, VERY vocal, trying to go on 50 yard mazy runs and get on free kicks. His enthusiasm to win a deal was commendable but his ability didn’t match that enthusiasm.

Yeah. I recall his trial game was a reserve game, which coincided with Alex McLeish becoming boss, so there was a decent size crowd at the game.

There had been a bit of buzz about Testimitanu, but he was nothing special and wasn’t offered a deal.

Unless we had him on trial prior, but didn't Vaz Te just sign a 6 month deal until the end of the season?

He did. Then became a goal machine at Barnsley then West Ham.

He played in the very first Stubbs game against Vale of Leithen. Looked well overweight but could play.

I agree he was on a different wavelength to his team mates. They gave a **** and he didn’t.

He certainly played one match for Hibs and looked OK. He may have been looking for too much money to sign a contract.

I thought he had been signed by Jim Duffy. Duffy was sacked before he arrived and McLeish didn't like the look of him and managed to void the contract or pay him off.

Anyone remember the name of the centre forward Eddie Turnbull signed on a short term contract from Brora Rangers but wouldn’t pay the 10k asking price ?

    Luke Coulson under stubbs
Rhys Murphy (JC era I think)

    Both are now playing non-league.

And Last season we had Chinese Taipei international Will Donkin too.

This myth has been well and truly outed as nonsense.

The fee required was circa 350k (not 50k) and we did enquire . But by that time Platt was already sought after in England and is on record that he had no intention of heading to Hibs as clubs like Villa etc were already making approaches ..

I just mind him being a giant. Had a quick look on wiki and he managed a total of 64 appearances in his entire career so maybe we made the right call to not sign

We did sign him, though. He was sub goalie for a year.
