It really is an awful illness. So so sad.
There is three sportsman I know who have this. Ex footballer, Rugby Union and Rugby league players all getting this high profile as possible whilst trying to battle it themselves.
Let's hope they find a cure and fast.Cougars!!!

Terrible news, awful awful disease I don’t know if it’s through the good work that these guys have done during there battle with this illness that I’ve heard so much about it or if it’s becoming more common but I really hope there’s some sort of breakthrough on the treatment/prevention side.
Best wishes to David’s family & friends

Very sad. Decent player in his day and pretty sure he was in the Scotland under 16 squad that got beat by Saudi Arabia men's team. RIP David.

Some facts and observations on this disease.
1 in 50,000 folk in the UK are diagnosed with MND every year
Men are 54% more likely to get it.
The older you are the more likely you are to get it.
The last new treatment for the disease was 30 years ago and it wasn't significant.
Lastly there appears to be a link emerging with head trauma sustained in contact sports as a risk factor.
We could all get this hellish disease at any time in our lives so it is relevant to us all.
Some sort of breakthrough is badly needed.

Rest easy david. Horrible horrible disease which took the life of my old work colleague. Fingers crossed a cure can be found.
