    I have to log in every time I visit a new page in a thread or a new thread.
    I think I've got a workaround for this on chrome (I'm sure similar things will be available for other browsers).

    https://chrome.google.com/webstore/d...niplelbg?hl=en

    Install this plugin then add 2 entries to redirect:

    - "http://hibs.net" -> "https://www.hibs.net"
    - "http://www.hibs.net" -> "https://www.hibs.net"

  2. Log in to remove the advert

    Je me souviens has touched on the solution but it's basically related to the secure (https) and non-secure (http) address of the website.

    If you're having the issue, check your bookmark for this site.

    If it starts with 'http://', then edit that to 'https://', then save it.

    If it doesn't have either of those prefixes, then add 'https://' to the beginning, then save it.

    Different browsers handle re-directs differently, which is probably why this is an issue in some and not others.

    Yep, but even after doing that, following some links around seemed to try and take me to an http some of the time. Putting in a filter to make sure it's always https seems to have cured it.

    Me 19. But maybe there's bigger things going on to get all het up about? In the pain-in-the-backside charts it's not made my top 100. The missus has though. Multiple entries in the top ten.

    https was added to the site last year I think (much later than it should have, to be honest) so http bookmarks causing a second login (as it redirects to https) is not something new over the past few days.
    I've added another redirect which should fix the issue (and was overlooked when moving from testing to production)

    As for the ads, we're trying a new supplier. We have over a million pages views every month and have to pay for the increasing costs somehow.
    We're not asking people to dig into their pockets - there's more important things for people to spend their hard earned cash on - so the next best thing is Ads.

    And if the ads generate more than the running costs, it all gets donated to the club. In the current climate surely that's a good thing?

    We won't be turning into a Johnston press site just yet though, as we try to balance usability with a potential revenue stream.

    Whatever you've done, it seems to be running a lot better now!

    I am not automatically logged in when I first open the site on a laptop, but when I click a thread it then logs me in. Been like that for years and never once has it ever been considered a hinderance.

    Shouldn't be. Check the PM thread and we'll troubleshoot from there.

    I only have about 30-40% max of my screen as the site now, ads top and bottom, it’s quite off putting, such is life I suppose.

    It’s not so much about the user nowadays on a lot of the internet.

    Keep in mind the ads are in testing at the moment, so will likely change a bit over the coming days

    How about an option to be a donator member regardless of the PM clique section, to show support and appreciation for hibs.net?

    It would make me feel less guilty of denying hibs.net ad revenue by blocking them?

    Hmm... you’ve now unleashed a plague of ads on the mobile ‘lite’ version.

    You could donate £10 a year to show your support and appreciation for hibs.net, and as a bonus you'll find there isn't a PM clique.
    Mature, sensible signature required for responsible position. Good prospects for the right candidate. Apply within.
