Yeh it doesnt matter if individuals get outed as being droopy, baldy, sex starved gambling addicted alcoholics in dire need of a new boiler, as long as Hibs get a few pence for it.

Can you out yourself to yourself ?

I have nothing to hide - I got make up and running pants

That could be me, but I’m still getting adverts for pillow cases 🤔
Hmmm.Pillow cases must be strangely important in your life.I think you need to get more sleep before bothering about the other stuff.

The usual incontinence pad and stairlift ads for me. Saved me searching.

I’m seeing pillowcases too. The must have gift of 2020 apparently.

Any tips on how to get the Spanish milfs and Ukrainian brides?

    So many ads...

And yep, bizarrely just had the pillow case ad too. Can guarantee there's no cookies in my phone pointing to pillowcases being the gift of the year!

Is the algorithm reading the forum and then throwing up suggested ads based on the Thread?!!!

You're lucky you're allowed to say that. I said something similar (and equally polite) and had the message deleted by an admin...

There's an ad at the top of my screen as I post this. It's apparently got the "Best Speed/Scan Quality Ratio". Hat off to it, whatever it is. The ad doesn't explain further.

    Mystery. Intrigue. Hibs class.

You can say what you want about the ads so long as it doesn't break the site rules.

Your comment was deleted because it was requesting methods to hide the ads, which we can't have up on a forum that relies upon ad revenue to subsist, for obvious reasons.

If you'd like to post again without that part it won't be deleted.

We don't control the adverts that are displayed - they're based on browsing history and cookies.

I just get adverts on how to silence your noisy neighbours, but I've already done that, so they're useless.

Can you send me some adverts about acid baths, pig farms or local large-scale building projects with deep foundations please?

I don't mind the odd advert, it's an exchange for something which is free, but it's almost making the site unusable which surely defeats the purpose of having them in the first place.

OK, tho in my defence it was a joke - I wasn't being serious.

Just to clarify: if you become a private member, do you definitely lose all adverts? Forever?

Question for the Admins (or whoever's working on the site re-design).

Have you set up a Test/UAT environment for any changes you make before you 'go live' with them, or do you try out changes on the active site?

Jonty may have a better answer for you but yes we do have a test site which we are using however I suspect its easier to update the 'live' site as we get a lot more instant feedback

Myself and another admin were looking around on the site earlier whilst not logged in on all the different options and we personally didn't find it as bad as some of the posters have made it out to be but maybe its different on different systems/phones.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, vodka in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming, "WOO HOO what a ride!"

I renewed my pm dues as it was so bad it was actually making the site unusable. On phone and laptop the ads were taking up 3/4 of the screen top and bottom with a grey banner on the bottom. The final straw was when the ads started showing up between posts. So it was either pm or stop using the forum. So pm it was or I might have had to start talking to my wife!

There should only ever be an ad between the first and second post if you're not logged in as far as I know but certainly not between any other posts.

There's always been a banner ad top and bottom and on the first post for non PM's

The rolling banner ad at the bottom is new, we asked them to put the close button on it.

Perhaps if any of that is not what you guys are seeing then take a screenshot for us to see if it is really as bad as you say.

I should make it clear it was not our intention to annoy people into signing up to be PM's.

Appreciate the support though so thank you.

Is there any way you can Like / Dislike buttons to posts?

Would be good to be able to just Like something instead of quoting it and agreeing.

That’s definitely what will happen. I’ve been meaning to reactivate my PM subscription for ages. This will make me do it for sure.

The site is unusable in its current format. It reminds me of the Evening News website. Are times that hard for Hibs.net? If that’s the case then put it out there and folk will help.

Its weird you compare it to the EN site. I know exactly what you mean by that but the admin team apart from the odd occasion are not seeing anything like that even when we log out ourselves

Times are not particularly hard. The site funds itself comfortably enough to function and any extra is donated to Hibs in some form.

Improvements to the site need to be funded though so looking at extra income is always worth a try.

    Appreciate all feedback though.
