Was great watching the 0-7 and 6-2 matches, not so good the 1-5 Mark de Vries derby and the 4-4 loss after being 4-2 up in 94 mins!!
I missed the 6-2 match as on holiday abroad, watched it in a pub with Arsenal and West Ham fans, they couldn't believe how good we were. Got absolutely ratted that night too

Totally agree I’ve said for years and I mean it that. 4 4 game was the worst I felt after any derby game remember walking back along gorgie road (in these days you could ) also vast majority of jambos were away to the pub by then in total shock

Think what makes it worse is that was the same season they pumped us 5-1 so to be 2-0 up in the next Tynecastle fixture was something to be enjoyed although it was so early in the game. Funny thing is when they made it 2-2 the time IIRC turned pretty crap and neither team looked like scoring.
Was an absolute sin that we managed to throw away a 2 goal lead in stoppage time.

Never thought Zambernardi was upto much and the last two minutes of that game confirmed - in my mind - I was right
After they made it 3-4 we took centre and it ended up getting passed back to him, rather than keep calm and stay in possesion and waste time, he punts it the park and they get a free kick. Okay, they've got the ball in their end and a free kick, just need Hibs to be competent and see it out. De Vries gets the ball up against our French left back. Stand up and don't let him make the cross, he dives and they make the cross.....
Looking back I wonder if Brebner didn't score after Mixu's penalty was saved we would have won the game, and my pal wouldn't have got himself arrested

All of Williamson's derbies had been disasters to then - Pressley last minute, DeVries scores twice in injury time, McKenna and Stamp in the last five minutes then those two from Weir. Made the O'Connor winner all the better.

That second goal on New Year’s Day 73 just gets better with every viewing. That ball from Edwards...

Edwards was a superb player.I remember in I think his first game for us we were winning easily and one of the opponents lobbed our keeper and Edwards raced back and cleared the ball with an overhead kick.I realised we had got some player.

Forty Shades of Green
So many Shades of Green on our kit over the years.
The Cup Final shade was nice.
Bottle Green ? Plenty bottle that great day!
However the shade(style) of our jersey in the 0-7 game is the (Hi) Bees Knees.
My favourite Hibs top.
A favourite Derby?
Well the game at Tynie 18th September 1965 when Jimmy O' got two on his birthday and my hero back then, Eric (The Rebel) Stevenson got the other two in a 4-0 hammering.
Fans were still coming through the turnstiles and we were already 4 up within the first 10 minutes.
Jambos were leaving as fans were arriving!
More bad news was the pubs did not open till 5pm back then.(closed at 2.30 till 5)
So they had to wait a while to drown their sorrows !
I was 13 at the time.
Is there footage of this game?
If so, i would love to view it.
I guess Jimmy would too!Last edited by Mick O'Rourke; 22-06-2020 at 07:38 PM.

I was going to mention that.
The September Weekend and the pilgrimage to Blackpool in those days or Whitley Bay and such coastal places.
No Prague or Barcelona weekends in them days !
He did not know till i think the Friday night that he was playing
in for Neil Martin (late injury i think)
He went down to Blackpool after the game .
It was already booked . He became old enough to drink that day of course
But he did not drink a lot in his early years
I think they drove down in his Ford Anglia
His first car !
Would have made it a more happier weekend i suppose.Last edited by Mick O'Rourke; 22-06-2020 at 07:55 PM.
