After watching the Time for Heroes rewind yesterday, I wondered who the lucky fan was who claimed the match ball after John McGinn picked it up and booted it into the crowd at the final whistle. And what happened to it afterwards? Is it sitting as the pride of place in someone’s house or was it auctioned off?

There were several match balls. One of them appeared on FB recently with SDG’s signature. Not sure if it was the final whistle ball though.

Hibs should have bought the broken goals. Would be a good museum display piece..

While watching the re-run on youtube yesterday, I noticed SDG get thrown a ball from a ballboy/girl. He immediately throws it back to them and gets another thrown to him. Commentator says something like, David Gray thinks that ball is too soft and wants another. I'm sure its in the period between 2nd & 3rd Hibs goal.

I have the corner flag from which we scored the 2 second half goals.
Yes that is a brag.

I have one of the balls with the match details printed - no idea if it actually made it on to the pitch though. The ball that was used for in the final minutes of the match is indeed inside Easter Road.

Was this during the exuberance or post game day?

The ball Gray scored with wasnt the same one that was used at the end of the game i dont think. Pretty sure it was a different balll thrown on towards Logan when they launched one from half way out for a bye kick. The one Gray scored with would be more priceless than the FT one

I wonder who the fan was who Sir David hugged first as he ran to the crowd. Good story to tell your grand kids

Been there.Every gimmick hungry yob,
Digging gold from rock and roll
Grabs the mic to tell us,
He'll die before he's sold.

I Always thought the last man to kick the ball into the crowd was him that now plays for Genoa? not him that now plays for Villa? I wouldnae care if it was the ref that had last kick, as long as it really happened. must watch this one again.

That would be amazing for the Hibs museum. I'm sure Hibernian Historical Trust would be interested.

At full time SJM boots the ball in play When Hibs won the cup into the north stand.
There is an SNS photo of him doing this with Stokes next to him.
It was caught and a few months latter signed by most of the cup final team.
No I don’t have it .... but a big Hibbie does.
