Aberdeen will 100% reinvest the money they receive from McKenna. McInnes will go for his usual type of signings - better players from other Scottish teams and loans from England.

    Wouldnt be surprised to see him go for;

    Alan Campbell
    Greg Leigh
    Jason Kerr
    Ross Stewart
    Callum Hendry
    Ali McCann
    Ethan Erhahon
    Stuart Findlay
    Eamon Brophy

    etc

The sort of players we should be targeting/identifying early and imo will start doing under Ross.
I don’t think there’s any problem with JR identifying targets. It would appear, if the rumours I hear are true, the handling of the deals thereafter is not ideal.

I heard that JR was getting frustrated with losing out on players they had interest in. As I say, just rumours. Don’t know if there’s much in them.

Not really transfer news so apologies, but i see Alan Combe has a new Job at Cove Rangers

🧤 CRFC are delighted to confirm the appointment of Alan Combe as our new goalkeeping coach

Alan replaces John McCafferty, who has chosen to step down due to work and family commitments

    🔗 https://t.co/GdlHeKdoWl https://t.co/BWLI1XuHTd
I’m pleased for Alan. He lives in Perth, so probably quicker getting to Cove than East Mains

McInnes was raving about Campbell after yesterday’s game. He’s a certainty to end up at Aberdeen.

McInnes was saying he doesn’t expect to see a penny of the McKenna money because they’d already brought players in beyond what the budget allowed them to.

Not sure how much truths in that mind you

Wouldn't expect him to be over the moon tbf. Not sure about others but Mathie alluded to shenanigans from McCrorie's side of the negotiations.

I dont imagine either team buying him. Would be £500k min even if he is last year of contract.

Do you think Motherwell would settle for less money with a higher sell on fee?

  13. #11652
Campbell will go to the uglies or down south. Zero chance of a club like us or Aberdeen signing him, imo

I'd say the problem will be less to do with Motherwell and more that Campbell, like Docherty, will want to try his hand down south rather than get a bit more money to play in the same league.

    Would love to be wrong.

Motherwell will be starting to panic, if they can’t get him to extend his contact, which will be unlikely as far I see
He’s still under 23, so I presume they’d get a development fee if he leaves at the end of his contact
Think they’ve still got a bad taste after the Chris Cadden case

Does the development fee still apply if he moves to England?

They do. Seemingly in Cadden’s case if he’d gone to Oxford directly, rather than on loan from Columbus Crew, Motherwell claim they would be due £320,000 as a development fee

Motherwell were claiming £200k from Colimbus Crew, not sure if this has been resolved yet

Seemingly Scotland benefit by picking up young players from England

    Thanks.

Matching the development fee and including a percentage of future profit would probably be acceptable to Motherwell, but I'd still be surprised if Campbell is interested in coming here.

I think he is a great player. Nothing flash but steady. Plays well every game.

Mcginn was a fair bit behind where AC is now to be fair.
Motherwell fans rave about him surprised no one has bid for him , i don't know if he is very similar tob Gogic .
He's free to sign for who he wants at xmas maybe his agents have already agreed something.

If we were prepared to pay the reported £350k for McCorie whats the real difference between that and offering the same to Motherwell for AC?

I’d argue AC is the better player and prospect. £350k with a 20% sell on and maybe even a fringe player (Hallberg?) going on loan for the season....

McGinn didn’t have many options in the UK..Campbell will have loads ..

I think we are day dreaming if we think we have any real chance of signing him. He is way beyond us in terms of wages never mind any cost of signing him ...

Whether McGinn had options or not is neither here nor there, we paid a development fee plus a large sell on %, who's to say Motherwell might not accept similar, can't see it though.

League One clubs can't easily outbid us now that they have a wage cap and players hoping to move up in wages will all be looking at the same limited number of vacancies in the Championship so there won't be as many options as there might have been before the cap was put in place.
