The longer you leave it the more dated it becomes. I love sci-fi as well, but I don’t think these type of films age as well as other genres.
That’s probably it. It did look dated.

Never seen a single minute of any of the Lord of the Rings film, despite adoring the books.

I saw someone mention On the Waterfront above, my favourite film

The original is one of my favourite films ever. Despite it being filmed in a town I called home for years the remake stinks.
Loved the original, it just seems to have the twinkle in the eye that the remake is completely missing.

Reservoir Dogs. Am I missing much?
    I would say yes.

It was the first time I saw a film anything like that. My mum and dad didn’t let us watch anything all that graphic growing up so it was the first time I’d seen blood, violence and a film jumping about in time. That’s just my exact age and era more than anything.

The first time I watched it I was plain confused. Second time I quite enjoyed it, and every time I’ve seen it since then I’ve thought it was better and better.

I am a Tarantino fan though.

And the soundtrack is just immense.

I've been to the cinema twice in the last thirty years or so, so I'm guessing I've not seen loads of these classics. I have obviously seen some on TV but I find I always look at the trailers/adverts for films and think if that's the best bits they're showing then the film must be dreadful.

I did watch violent things growing up so although the film had a similar effect on me it wasn't because of the violence. I hadn't seen anything with that intensity or that kind if dialogue. Everything was cool about it. Poster. Soundtrack. The casting was superb.

It's impact has diminished over the years as Tarantino's style is well established and often imitated. At that time in the 90s though - what a watch.

It might be if you can get past the mangled accents and twisting of history, but I couldn't.

Star Wars. I've never seen it. It's for children, isn't it?

Obviously everyone has their own personal tastes but it's funny when you see people say they've never watched films like Godfather & Shawshank which are consistently rated as best ever films.

Youd think people would be tempted to watch them at least.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, vodka in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming, "WOO HOO what a ride!"
