    Virtual Grand National

Who is everyone backing? If it was the genuine race would have backed Tiger Roll but think 5/1 on a simulation is abit short.

I don't know much about horses, but I like to have a go at the national.

I'd usually back something about 20/1 or so, but not sure if a virtual race would be more likely to favour the short odds.

Are they showing it on TV? Or have we not quite got that far into this strange world yet?

I was planning to back Yala Enki in the real race so will have a couple of pounds on for a bit of fun. I wouldn't have touched Tiger Roll in the race proper, finished a well beaten and very tired horse at Cheltenham. In this I'm fairly sure he will win, they'll want a bit of a feel good fairytale story.

I said on the horse racing thread on the other sports forum that it's good that all the profits from the market are going to charities. The trade off is of course the bookies get a lot of new sign ups to their slot filled online platforms at a time when people have a lot of time to kill. Call me a cynic.

Are the bookies opening just for this "race"?

I think the point of virtuals is that it's a fix regardless of who wins.

It's a pre recorder race based on a computer algorithm taking into account things like form, age, weight ect. The race will be a CGI race broadcasted.

    Is Red Rum running?

According to TV guide it is, so a mixture of horses from different generations.

Not in the national (they are using the actual horses who would have run this year).

They are doing another legends race and it's in that.

There's 2 races. The virtual GN featuring the 40 runners most likely to have lined up this year followed by a race of champions right afterwards.

    Lottery
    Foinavon
    Aldaniti
    Golden Miller
    Red Rum
    Don't Push It
    Many Clouds
    Silver Birch
    Party Politics
    Neptune Collognes
    Seagram
    Mr Frisk
    L'Escargot

Some of the better known names involved.

Quite an interesting article on Unibet on what factors they believe the algorithm favours and what horses that leaves in contention.

This isnt the same as virtual racing in the shops. They've done this at least for a couple of years now using all the relevant data available loaded into the system. The result was pretty accurate last year compared to the real thing.

    Unibet call it spot on.

Money to be made there for people who are both computer geeks and racing fans.
