Remember my dad and his Hibby workmates going to travel agents to explore ways of how to get to Salonika such was the confidence at the time. Listened to second leg on radio, so disappointed, was looking forward to going abroad for the first time. Does anyone remember Alex Edwards right hook which floored the Split player who had been fouling him all night. Thank god the officials did not see it.

One of my earliest ER memories was being at a QOS game, and it might have been that one. Anybody remember who Falconer was?
only slight remembrance of him as his winner in Utrecht has been discussed with folk previously, also thinking i may have been at the QOS game you mentioned, if it was the one where John Parke scored the best own goal ive ever seen then i definitely was there with my dad.

The Hajduk Split tie has got to go down as one of Hibs biggest what if moments. We would have played Leeds United in the semi finals (who progressed to the final but lost 1-0 to AC Milan) The final was in Greece just how bl00dy good would that have been.

Definite chance missed . I remember the 4 v 2 game . Late goal we lost made a big difference though we would have gone out on away goals if 4 v 1 then 0 v 3 . John Blackley was sent off in the second leg . 6 against Sporting Lisbon , 7 against Besa and 4 against Hadjuk Split . In those days even the best of teams were often thrashed away from home .

A classic Scottish Cup tie and a match that had everything Played in a gale with an electric atmosphere it had goals, controversy, crunching tackles, penalties and all topped off with a pitch invasion

There was no TV coverage thanks to a dispute so 20000 crammed into Easter Road

Celtic took a 1-0 half-time lead thanks to a Brian McClair strike from a corner

Stevie Cowan equalised when he bundled the ball over the line in 51 minutes going down the slope

Mark McGhee put Celtic back in front 10 minutes later when he hammered a pass from Johnston into the roof of the net Gordon Chisholm then headed HIBS level with a towering header Stevie Cowan put HIBS 3-2 ahead from the penalty spot

Celtic were then awarded a soft penalty two minutes later that McClair scored with only minutes left on the clock

Joe Tortolano then swept a beautiful ball over to the right wing to substitute ‘ Bomber Harris’ who swept in a low cross that was met by the almost prostrate diving figure of Eddie May to head HIBS into the semifinals of the Scottish Cup and send the East radge

Hibs Rough Milne Munro Brazil Rae Fulton Tortolano Chisholm Cowan Durie and Collins

    8/3/1975 Scottish League Division One

    Morton 0 v 1 Hibernian

    MacLeod

Hibs totally dominated this game and only had Ally MacLeod’s first goal for HIBS to show for it after he converted a Joe Harper cross

Hibs were let off the hook when Billy Osbourne of Morton missed a second half penalty when he ballooned the ball over the crossbar

Arthur Duncan had a late goal ruled out for offside

8/3/1947 Scottish Cup Round 3 Replay

    Hibernian 2 v 0 Rangers

    Ormond
    Cuthbertson

In excess of 50000 watched both sides slugging it out in this Scottish Cup replay and just when it looked like extra time would be required Gordon Smith went on a mazy run exchanged passes with Cuthbertson before setting Finnigan free on the left who delivered a low ball into the box for Ormond to fire home The crowd were still cheering when 60 seconds later Smith fired a shot in on target that looked to be going in but Cubby standing handy a la Jimmy O’Rourke made sure by prodding the ball over the line

As much as I dislike Levein, he played the pantomime villain role very well that season. The Derby’s were great.

indeed. They were terrified of us back then. Absolutely ridiculous that we haven’t put them to the sword at Easter road since then, when you think of how rubbish they’ve been for years. 4 games, 3 defeats and a draw. Just awful.

Joe Harper in the cup final?
Nowadays Harper would never be credited with a hat trick. His 3rd, IIRC, was clearly an og.

Billy McNeil sort stuck a toe out at it. I'm sure some papers next morning had it as an o.g.

    A rotten day all in.

My memory is of the really tight segregation for that game and watching George Stewart and Gordon Rae playing for HIBS was like supporters living the dream

I can still picture the delight on both their faces when they celebrated their goals

Even when O’Connor scored you could see that their supporters knew it was a consolation as there was no way we were losing that match

Not forgetting Jackie and Ralphie who were also big hibbies

One of my biggest memories of the day was all the tarts fighting amongst themselves and the with the polis. It was probably the day that really cemented that I was Hibs through and through for life. *******s!😆
