    A home tie against league leaders East Fife drew a crowd in excess of 40000 Those supporting HIBS were met with the news that Combe was injured and his place had been given to young Michael Gallagher The new man had a solid game

    With HIBS shooting down the slope in the first half Reilly earned a penalty for Turnbull to convert and Ormond scored a second after Duncan had equalised The same player made it 2-2 shortly after the break but HIBS upped their game and Buchanan and Johnstone got the goals to secure a 4-2 win

    The fifers however stayed at the top with 18 points from 12 starts HIBS were second having earned 16 points from 11 starts

    HIBS would win the League in this season
