    Esports

So what are they?! When can I watch them?!

It's sport, but not as we know it!

Perhaps this is the way to get through the shutdown?

I don’t think it’s sport. Is it not simply video games ........ skill with a mouse or play station controller. I suppose it might include some mental exercise. Better going out for exercise in the fresh air, re-invent the book or get on with work in the garden. ( Guess what age category I’m in? )

....... or have I been whooshed?

It’s a online network that some football clubs have professional gamers playing for them.

I would be all for watching Kamberi in a lumberjack match on wwe attitude for the ps2.

I'm keeping an eye on FIFA fantasy (quaran)team.

Luton town have set it up and there's 128 clubs from around the world who have a representative from the club (staff or player I think, maybe it's fans too). Hibs seem to be included.

The draw is on Wednesday. I've never watched eSports but if they live stream this YouTube or something I might just watch the Hibs games.
    Mon the Hibs.

LoL esports is absolutely huge at the moment.

We actually used to come out after half time to a LoL song for a couple of years: https://youtu.be/fmI_Ndrxy14

It does include many aspects that sports do. Teamwork, practice (12 hours a day at the highest levels), commitment, sacrifice. Studies show that being physically fit and healthy vastly improves mental capabilities so most of the players do keep themselves in good shape.

If you like cycling you could check out something like Zwift. It's esports but its people riding for real on turbo trainers hooked up to the app and I've found myself up against a bunch of Tour de France riders at times. The commentator on the live broadcasts can take a bit of getting used to but it can be a pretty good watch!
