    Rocky top shot stopper (almost)

Reading an article that has Rocky as 3rd top stopper saving a whopping 75% of shots coming at him. Only Forster and Killie keeper better him and not much in it

Needs dropped though, been shaky for ages apparently

There's absolutely no doubt that RM is a good keeper, in particular shot stopping. However, his distribution from feet is really poor - even on Wednesday he very nearly cost us due to his kicking. But he made up for it with his save from Vigurs (I think it was him) shortly after that. He can be caught out at his posts a lot too, but I do concede that keepers get more criticism than most due to the importance of the position (and its specialism).

If Rocky could improve his ability at feet, he'd not be at Hibs, he'd be down south for a very big fee - no doubt about it.

I've watched a couple of times and can't decide whether it is a save or if it hits the post then Rocky.

Points stands though. Great shot stopper but poor at his feet and also iffy decision making about coming out or not.

Defo a brilliant shot stopper if he could work on the rest of his game and get even better he would be at the Uglies or the EPL

The move he so badly wants

You just know he is going to put up the shutters when Israel come calling

We don't currently have stats that accurately reflect a keepers worth. The closest is probably xGa, but that doesn't take into account length and accuracy of distribution, relative quality of defensive teammates etc.

In my view Rocky has strengths and weaknesses. But more so than your average keeper. And it's been done to death this season. I do wonder why we spent on Bogdan just to have him signing autographs and increasing the % ginger quota of the league.

Marciano is a good shot stopper but there's definitely an underlying issue somewhere. He's been deservedly dropped two seasons running but to be fair he's come back both times better. I've said it before but I feel he always makes at least one mistake per game. Some worse than others.

He’s outstanding at 1 on 1’s - to the extent that when he saves them (like on Wednesday) it isn’t always even acknowledged that a huge chance wasn’t converted.

Rocky looks back to be on form again but his kicking is dreadful and he’s always got a howler in him.

With the 2 we’ve got right now though, we’ve not been much stronger in the GK department during my time watching Hibs - Leighton’s kicking was poor too.

90% of goalkeepers who are that good at shot stopping will back themselves to stay on their line and make the save than trying to come through 4/5 bodies to a cross he has a 60/40 chance of taking. His positioning on Wednesday was outstanding, see the twice he was off his line like a shot, first half about 30 yards from goal sweeping and second half to deny Shaw.

She sells seashells on the seashore.

On a serious note, yes Marciano is one of the best at shotstopping in the country and one of the best we have had for some time.

He should have dealt with the ball in the first half. Nobody near it and Marciano just left the boy to collect it in the bottom corner of the box.

In hindsight he should’ve, he hesitated very slightly before doing the right thing and not rushing out to a ball he then was favourite to lose. We seen at the other end what happens when a keeper just charges out to a ball he has no chance of winning.
