    Referee

A disgrace tonight. His non protection of Boyle was farcical and could easily have lead to a bad injury.

I actually disagree. He booked two players for their tackles on Boyle. Although they clearly targeted him, the only two fouls that were worthy of a caution were dealt with accordingly. The rest were smart fouls with no malice. He had a good game.

Don’t think the ref was as bad as the east stand linesman.

Thought he was good, bookings deserved and tried to play advantage where possible. 9 out of 10

    Hibs legend.

Genuinely think he's the best referee in Scotland, did before the SC win too.

    Wasn't perfect, but certainly wasn't a disgrace.

Was ok on the whole tonight, Vigurs should’ve been booked in the first half, and then his booking was a border line red, genuinely about 10 seconds late and just wanted to chop Boyle in half, ball was miles away.

Vigurs was very lucky to have avoided a booking before that challenge. That's the only real issue I had with the ref though, decent overall.

That was the one that pissed me off. Should have been a red imo and on top of that he’d already got away with a couple.

Thought he was ok but Newalls booking at the end was very soft considering what he had let go on Boyle.

Was always going to be a booking. Newell knew what he was doing.

Best bit for me was when he gave a The Rangers freekick HIBS way with seconds to go

    Legend!

So did three or four of their boys when they fouled Boyle. Hanlon was getting the ball anyway so it wasn't as if he was driving into the box

He was alright. He completely ignored a blatant shirt pull on Doidge when he was looking right at it in the first half and the Ross County number 11 should have been booked well before he actually was, apart from that he was ok.

West Stand linesman called the offside goal bang on.

Thought he done alright. The RC players got booked for the fouls on Boyle when they deserved it. Gave us a penalty, didn’t seem to have too much else to do.

Just watched the replay on Alba. Clear pen so no issue. Wasn't sure at the game.

Think the ref was fine. Not sure what more he could have done to protect Boyle. He was correct with the 2 yellows and the pen was the right decision.

Opinions eh, thought he was very good tonight. Best I’ve seen at ER for a long time.

  24. #24
Didn't notice the referee much last night, so must have had on ok game.

Only contentious decision was the penalty. The RC player should have been yellow carded for the hand ball AND or applauding the ref for the next 20 seconds.

Compared to some of the other refereeing performances we’ve seen at ER, I think McLean is certainly one of the better ones and did well last night. As others have said, I think the only error was maybe not booking Vigurs earlier.

He was given a yellow, I thought?

Bit lenient on them 1st half I thought and Vigurs should have saw red for that challenge 2nh half on Boyler...but hes not one of the worst in the SPL that's for sure

Yellow for me for Vigurs, all he did was hang his foot out and deliberately trip Boyle, didn’t try to kick him or injure him, it was a deliberate trip which clipped his leg, yellow card was spot on.

Hang his foot out? He was at least 2 seconds late, went to ground, caught Boyle, arguably a straight leg, had absolutely no intention of playing the. All and if that’s not trying to kick him then I’ve no idea what is. He also knows that doing what he did would have a severe chance of injuring his opponent. No chance he could’ve argued had he seen red for that.

Thought the Ross County player was carded for the hand ball.
