Wee bit of trivia - survived the Japanese attacks on Pearl Harbour when it was known as USS Phoenix, and remains the only ship to have been sunk during military actions by a nuclear powered submarine.

I was there a couple of years ago and visited many bars :-)

I can't say I came across any sports bars!

You do know about the blue exchange rate for the peso I hope?

    No, what is that?

I generally just use a Starling Card abroad which offers great rates.

Can't give any specific recommendations, but we stayed in Montserrat area and from south of Ave Belgrano to San Telmo there are a number of decent bars. It will help to emphasise Scottishness when making a request.

The Gibraltar in San Telmo shows British football.

The Macc Lads have a song about Buenos Aires. Apparently they haven't heard of Boddingtons and there is no chippy.

San Telmo district is your best bet. La Birreria on Bolívar St is a Boca pub and was covered in tellies when I was there.
It’s some place BA hope you’re having it!

Go as soon as you can. Currently very cheap but it’s not always so. Inflation goes up and down like Eva Peron’s knickers.
Bustling city with lots of interesting districts to visit, deep history, great architecture, first rate transport system and very, very nice people.
Twenty odd football sides worth a visit too. I only made two of ‘em.

First trip in the Merchant Navy as a 19 year old, all those years ago, Montevideo & Buneos Aires, brilliant. Best steak, egg and chip dinner. Happy days.

Its fab. Was expensive when we were there, 2017, inflation was 40%, but might be better now. Beautiful city, good food, opera house is stunning. We went on to Patagonia and then Iguazu Falls both of which were on the bucket list and exceeded expectations.
