Think you should read properly what I said. The key words being "in this Hibs team". I base what I said on the sitters Doidge has missed this season, a few of them from two yards out.

For the record, at no point did I say Shankland would have more goals than the players you introduced into a debate on Doidge v Shankland.

Perhaps you should stay off whatever your having.
How many were real sitters? Lucky if it’s a couple. The big guy rarely misses the target.

Thought Doidge did pretty well yesterday and Shankland did well with the little service he had. The question for me is would Shankland have scored more than the single goal given Doidge's opportunities. I think he might. Doidge's miss/Keeper's save late on was a good example. Doidge was so slow taking his shot and allowed the Keeper to close the angle. I think Shankland scores that and possibly gets a touch on Kamberi's strike. We won't be buying Shankland as we have missed the boat and I hope Doidge keeps scoring and also performing as he did yesterday.
Shankland wouldn’t have taken the touch on his chest to set up his late chance. A real bit of quality from the big man, likewise his touch near the touchline earlier in the game, the big man’s got it.

Apart from a goal yesterday, Shankland didn't impress me. Can understand now why no big clubs have taken a chance on him.

I thought he was quiet yesterday too, though did take his goal very well.

I wouldn’t judge him on one game against us though.

It was the same against Hearts earlier in the season in the league cup. Scored the opener that night but was anonymous the rest of the game. He is a pure poacher, which isn’t a bad thing but he’s not the sort to create chances himself out of nothing, the supply needs to be there for him. He reminds me of Jamie McLaren who was sensational with Barker, Boyle, Allan, Kamberi and McGinn working to create him chances but looked pretty blunt without them.

    Both decent players. Different.

    Surely that settles the argument

Both could be influential in the game next week. Who got the better deal, us or Utd.

Shankland has the goals tally but at a lower level, whilst Doidge has come through a slow start to get vital goals and show some great hold up play. Will be interesting to compare them.
    I dunno mate.

As the OP I say it's Doidge by a knock out!

Reports Stoke scouts in stands tonight watching Shankland, they'd be better watching the 'Welsh Pele' Doidge

I'm sticking with Doidge, the other guy more or less seems to have disappeared after his goal

Clearly much better tonight but to be fair I think Shankland has got what it takes and will go on to big things with a good team around him.

If Shankland is worth £3m then Doidge is worth at least £5m. I really hope he gets a call up to the Welsh team too!

It’s an interesting debate, at this moment in time it’s really only Hibs fans who would take Doidge over Shankland.

I think Shankland has definitely got quite a lot going for him.

Doidge however scores a hat trick, superb finishes, but he was poor first half but perhaps he flourishes with a partner up top as once Kamberi came on he again looked very decent.

    Doidge 4-2 Shankland

  22. #291
Doidge has 6 goals in 7 games against lower league teams this season and he was on the bench for 2 of those games.

He’d probably have quite a few more than his 14 goals if he’d been playing against the teams Shankland has all season.

Shankland is a good player though.

I've read a few times now that "Doidge was poor in the first half" well you know what in the first game Shankland was very poor in the whole game. Wasn't there last night so can't comment but what I've seen from both of them, most of Shankland on TV, is they are both goalscorers but Doidge has the better all round game and works harder for the team

Shankland scored in both games. Apart from that did very little. Almost anonymous at Tannadice. Still scored to be fair.

watch it again, it is a mi****.

Also, if you watch Kamberi's effort earlier, Doidge (two yards out) sticks out his foot and misses it!!! Any touch and its a goal.

I'm afraid I just don't see what Doidge (other than winning balls in the air, especially defensive headers) brings to the team. Shankland would have 20 plus goals in this Hibs team with the chances Doidge has missed.
In case you still cant see it, its goals that he is bringing to the team. 2 hattricks already this season.

If you play a high line properly against Shankland he will be out the game for most of it. Caught offside almost as much as Kamberi was in his 10 mins spell.
