    I'd take him.

    Stop it.

He'd probably do a job. Hearts have a habit of making decent player look horrendous.

Ive no idea tbh, never saw enough of him to say.

I do remember a podcast earlier in the season though where they were slating Levein for playing in a midfield 2 when that’s clearly not his game now.

That’s not me advocating us signing him but I do think there’s every chance he had more to offer than what Hearts got out of him.

Why? well well past his best, wouldn't be cheap, and by all accounts has lost any drive he did have when Ireland failed to qualify for the euros.

I don't know much about him as a player, but if you list most of the biggest criticisms of our team this season he would appear to fix a few of them.

At 35 you'd expect him to provide a bit of leadership. Even if he can't get about the park, someone disciplined enough to sit in front of the back four might be invaluable, letting Hallberg push on and do more further forward and helping out the centre backs a bit at times.

A player capable of putting his foot on the ball in a congested midfield is always an asset and if he is still in the reckoning for a decent Ireland side at his age then he must still have something about him?

And surely we can't ever have enough players desperate to get it right up the Jambos?

I'd be keener on this than the Berra idea, only because he fits the bill of what our squad is currently lacking.

As long as his wage demands aren't horrendous, he could be a good option for 6 months.

Our standards have dropped remarkably if folk would take this guy because he would “do a job.”

Our best sides have had the odd star players and quite a number of supporting cast members who "did a job".

Having someone who "does a job" is better than having a whopping great cavity in the middle of your team where nobody can do that job, and in our team that is the deep lying midfield position where Whelan plays.

Berra & Whelan could be the signings to help us forget about McGeough...

Someone with knocking on 100 caps, even toward the end of his career, should be able to do a job in the SPL.

Someone here, saying he’s just what we need in terms of leadership on the field, flies in the face of the maim criticism by Jambos on KB. Yes, I know they’ll have a go at players getting the boot or leaving their club, but that doesn’t mean what they say hasn’t an element of truth.

Actually think he'd slot in to our midfield perfectly. Defensive midfielder with bags of experience surrounded by better players than at Hearts. I'd have him till end of season.

I remember thinking that when they beat us at Easter Road earlier this season.

I think Jack Ross will cast his net further than former Hibs players and recently released Hearts ones.

Would 100% take him. 6 month deal. Has a point to prove and was great for villa less than a year ago.

Isn't too old for the position he plays.

Wouldn't read too much into him not being great at hearts as they are ****ed top to bottom.

He was good in the game at ER and was also good in the second half v Celtic. Would do a job but absolutely cant see it happening. Also played well in an Ireland qualifier game earlier in the season. Sounds atrocious the way no one spoke to him about not being involved in the squad or when his contract was being settled. Very bizarre sounds almost Romanov like behaviour.

Please no! Don't think he had any real interest in playing in Scotland. Only in getting in the RoI squad for the qualifiers.

I honestly thought this was a spoof thread & I still think the OP was being mischievous. Honestly, people want a guy who has been emptied from the team 5 points adrift at the bottom of the league! That's not even mentioning his lack of training, his huge wage & disruptive dressing room influence. Behave!

Was probably the best player on the park when they beat us at easter road, very comfortable on the ball and looks to play forward as much as possible.

But if Ross didn't want McGeouch then he won't want 35 yo Whelan. Very similar players.

I'm not so sure that a guy with almost 300 appearances at one club and 150 at another would be a disruptive influence in the dressing room. Sounds like a model pro, admittedly from the outside

I mean it's a slightly less woeful idea than signing Berra but only just.

No no no no no no from me

Only half tongue in cheek to be honest. I would be happy enough if Hibs signed him until the end of the season at the right price - it's not going to happen though.

I should have clarified, i didnt mean he was a bad guy in any way. However, his contract allowed him to train only twice a week & he didn't have any media commitments. That means he was treated differently to all the other players & believe me, that causes major disruption/grievances in the dressing room, particularly when he was almost certainly one of the highest earners at PBS.

Ronnie was a good player for Liverpool, past his best now though.
