I thought he needed to prove his worth last year as opposed to this. We lost players, he had the chance to step up, he didn’t.
I might be wrong but I think he’s had a fair number of injuries in the last two seasons, but largely been fit this year.

A player like Slivka with plenty ability suffers from the one thing that makes the difference between a top player and an average one. Inconsistency. Sometimes really up for it and dazzling, lots of other times, not.

It’s why we and other clubs our size can get them and big clubs dump them eventually.

I’ve heard he’s actually suspended today?
Doubtful, only on 4 league bookings

Can’t have been. If you get suspended for accumulating yellow cards the suspension kicks in after 14 days. So given he was available during the week, he can’t have been suspended.

He’s never a consistent 7 unless you go by the Hanlon is a 8/9 every game.

    He’s 5 with the occasional 8. Drops to 3.

Slivka near enough every week just scrapes pass marks and no more. He’s very rarely much worse than that but he’s also very rarely much better. Time to go imo.

Also seems to be injured/vanishes from the whole squad far too often.

Agreed....it’s a symptom of our lack of quality that people want Slivka to stay...nice technical player, but not the answer...

Omeonga, Hallberg and Newell are better options than him, when Mallan returns that puts him down to fifth choice CM.

His time at Hibs is up I’m afraid.

Assuming that we bring in the missing defensive midfielder, would anyone be that disappointed if Slivka left us this week?
Mature, sensible signature required for responsible position. Good prospects for the right candidate. Apply within.

Disappointed when any quality player leaves but you may have a point in context.

I thought Newell (again) looked very good in the central role yesterday so we already have good options in there.

Quite the opposite. If we could use his wage towards filling the position that needs filled most, I’d be delighted.

He's had 2.5 years to impress and cement a place in the team, he has some talent but his game isn't really suited to Scottish football. Flits in and out of games, barely getting pass Mark's with the odd good game now and then. It's a thanks but time to move on.

Failed to nail down a starting berth under 3 separate managers now despite the odd decent performance. Will be away this month or the summer.

After today, nope. I don't think the problems of us leaking goals is mostly the back line, it's the likes of Slivka not doing their defensive duties and being caught napping way too often, putting way too much pressure on our defence.

    Just not good enough.

Played well during the week. Not great again today. The story of his Hibs career.

I don't feel he'll be one of the players we regret leaving - we can get better.

Yep, very inconsistent which sums up his Hibs career.

Think he’ll be moved on in the summer

Totally to blame for their goal.

    He offers very little, imo.

He did what he always does, plays well in one game and is a passenger in the next.

    United we stand here....

Can we not just enjoy last night's great result without going through the team finding someone to slag off.

  30. #269
100% yes until he has that game we’re he is nonexistent again. I think he has a bit of class, composed on the ball, nice touch. Is he enough for that center midfield role? Not so sure. Really has until the end of the season to prove himself

He didn’t cover himself in glory at the goal, but neither did 3 or 4 other players. I thought Boyle was probably the most culpable overall. Slivka did fine yesterday and was excellent on Wednesday.

He won’t be staying and it will be another gamble to see if we can get better than him.

I can see another major midfield rebuild over the summer.
