    Dr Martens boots.

After years and years of freezing my toes off following Hibs I finally stopped being tight and bought a pair of DM's last week. Wore them to the game today and the Christmas markets yesterday - no cold toes.

    Amazing boots.

I prefer Barnet's on the High Street. DMs (like most things these days) are made in countries where labour is cheap, the quality is still pretty good compared to other boots/shoes but if you hunt hard enough would will find pairs that are fabricated in the UK, it's those that'll last a good few years!

Panama Jacks are my choice of boots, best I ever had, bought my first pair twenty years ago, made in Spain.

Absolutely can't fault them. I'm going to buy shoes as well for work.

I've had a new pair every 4 or 5 years since I was a youth!

Best boots in the world but I do agree it's a shame production shifted out of the UK.

Can't beat a good pair of German Paratroopers boots to keep your tootsies warm. Make you look and walk like Frankenstein's Monster but a small price to pay.

I got a pair of steel toe Doc Martens from my work about 20 years ago and they've been lying in the garage for about ten years.

Totally forgot about them and might give them a clean up and see how they look. Dont know if the steel toe ones look that much different to the normal ones.

I might need them for when the civil war starts

Greatest boots ever made! Have had many pairs throughout my life and used them at work for shoes as well. Minimum of 10 holers though!!

I've had the same pair of 12" high DM boots since 1981.

I actually bought them for a fancy dress party (I went as a bobber boy) and I probably only wear them a couple of times a year, if that, so the longevity isn't that much of a surprise.

I've had several pairs of DM shoes over the years, though, and this thread has been food for thought.

I've got a couple of pairs of 1460 I've had for a few years. Black ones and cherry red, both made in Asia but still good quality, I got them on Amazon for £50 for the black and £60 for the other ones.
I got a pair of the ox blood ones which were made in Nottingham for 'Er indoors and the quality of leather and the finish is far superior but they were the best part of £200.

I prefer monkey boots. More aesthetically pleasing and tough as old boots.

I used to love DMs but I just don't trust them now they're made in the far east.
It's odd because I wouldn't buy a car unless it was made in the far east.

Palladium Boots are the best I’ve had. They made airplane tires back in the day then boots for the foreign legion.

The fur lined waterproof versions are amazing.

yikes, i'm positive Barnet's was there in the late 70's when i purchased my first pair, might have been a different name right enough, coincidently discussing DM's at a family gathering just yesterday which reminded me of this thread all the younger relatives recommended Brashers, along with suggestions of firstly going to clarke's to get my feet properly checked for size which i've not had done for approx 40 years as a T1 Diabetic i really should be more aware of the importance of protecting ones feet.

You are correct sir! I have a pair made in the original DM factory in England. Cost me £200 top boots!
