    World championship darts

Off to a flyer with the games tonight. All the games were decent, but the final match between MVG and Klassen was the highlight. There was no handshake at the start or at the end, they obviously don’t like each other and MVG confirmed that in his interview. Klassen could and should be a top ten player, but he misses to many doubles.
Ive got a feeling that this will be one of the best world championships for a long time.

    United we stand here....

It seemingly goes back to 2012 when Klaasen was fined and given community service for sending naked pictures of himself to a 15 year old family friend.

    I never knew about that.

Not relevant to the current championships but is it correct the WDF have withdrawn all support and recognition for the BDO and de facto stripped them of their position as the governing body of darts, including county darts, in the UK?

I read the story but wasn't sure if I was misunderstanding. I know the decision to move their world championships has been a disaster.

I didn’t really understand it either. I’d heard of the WDF, but I still don’t really know what their role in darts is. The BDO needs to concentrate on the amateur side of darts and leave the professional side of things to the PDC.

Just watched Barnie's interview after last night's defeat, embarassing! Why did he agree to the interview?

It was weird eh. He didn’t seem to listen to anything he was asked, his response if any didn’t answer the questions.

Hope he can at least have a decent run. He's been telling people recently his back's totally shot but he seems to have been putting in the hours of practice.

First woman to beat a man at the World Championships.

    Well done to her.

That was a brilliant darts match just there. Both players threw some great arrows, harsh on Evetts to lose but a brilliant performance from Sherrock and a well deserved victory.

Why are women not competing with men all the time at darts? It's just chucking arrows at a board.

That's exactly what I was thinking, there's no physical disadvantage to being female in darts? Same with snooker and pool.

Perhaps significant that the 15k that Sherrock won for winning a first round match at the PDC Worlds is the biggest sum ever won by a woman and that includes winning the women's Worlds in the BDO.

What an absolute fud O'Connor was there.

  27. #26
Gerwyn Price scrapes through in bizarre circumstances. His opponent William O'Connor needed double 2 to win the leg but miscounted and went for double 1 instead. Price then broke him and then won the next leg to win the match.

I don't think I've ever seen that in a professional match before!

In 30 years time there will be a race of huge powerful women who will excel at every sport, including darts.

For now, we'll just have to make do with Liverpool FC.
