Wasn't too bad this morning just before 8am heading west from Portobello to Victoria Quay. Dreading getting home tonight though, hoping it all moves fairly steady along to Seafield but the likelihood is it'll be a nightmare with everyone leaving Leith in one go along a single lane.

Going from Dalmeny Street to town in a number 22 was an absolute nightmare at 5.30pm last evening. Took 50 mins to get to the second stop on Princes Street. All due to the works outside the omni.
Likewise this morning. Took 20 mins to get from Elm Row to the lights at Leith Street and Waterloo Place.

Here you go - this is in my line and in a tram meeting about two months ago I asked the question 'have you spoken with Hibernian' - answer 'why would we do that?'

The roundabout at the foot of Easter Road - the works were being undertaken after the Ross County game and there were already lane closures - it usually takes me about 35mins to get from my seat to Newhaven Harbour - that day it took over 60 and I imagine it will be worse with the signals.

The Council has a newish 'active travel' section - the move is to ultimately replace all uncontrolled roundabout junctions with signals as (as is mentioned further up this thread) they afford greater priority to those on foot or cycle (or bus as they can be timed to suit bus movements).

Essentially, if you drive in Edinburgh youre ****ed.

The whole Tram fiasco should have been done and dusted, first the dig up Leith Walk to move the Gas lines, fill it in, then dig up the Water and move it then fill it in again???
Why was it all not done at one time, instead of creating ciaos twice!!!
Now they have to dig up and lay the Tram tracks, yet more ciaos for what is in my mind not worth the money just to run trams to Ocean Terminal???
Buses will still be running to the other parts the Trams won't reach, so in my mind its a total waste of money and resources!!!

I cross Lochend Road, pass Leith Academy and cross easter road just about every morning. Since this new junction has been installed it's been noticeable how much quieter Easter Road is and how much busier Lochend road is. There's been traffic backed up Lochend Road every morning.

What a completely pointless policy. They work fine as they are at the moment and if there was an argument for doing anything differently it would be for traffic wardens to be actual traffic wardens and move on the van and lorry drivers who regularly park up to unload on arterial and related main routes.

    ....

It's also telling just how negative an impact regulation of traffic is compared to self regulation by drivers themselves. Roundabouts are relatively free flowing and continuous, traffic lights - even when optimally phased - never manage the same flows....

A really good example of that is the changes made to the area round McDiarmid Park. There are an unbelievable number of traffic lights there now and you can wait for ages to get through them.

I arrived hours before the match, as we were staying over, but leaving at the northbound exit of the Perth bypass was a nightmare, so I dread to think what it was like from about 2pm onward.

The new traffic lights have been causing the traffic to be backed up right along the links. You only get about three cars through the lights before they change to red again.

It’s even worse at school pick up times etc.

That bit was total insanity about 9.45 this morning. The number 5 took at least 25 minutes to get from outside Dofo's to past the Picardy Place bunfight. Thoroughly ****in sick of it now.

    Supposedly December 1st.

Would avoid driving near Omni currently as down to single lane and along with Leith Street big delays.

That area is just a big bus and car park, if you're heading west, go via E London St as the traffic is fine that way.

Yes the wardens could perhaps start clearing the cars out of Loading Bay Only along arterial and main routes allowing vans and lorries to get in out the way of traffic. Morningside Road could be a starting point as car drivers load their Greggs takeaways into their cars blocking the loading bays

Thats my route every day. I don’t know why anyone would choose to go London Road, York Place, Queen Street.

Traffic going to be bad tomorrow most routes.

My advice give plenty of time trying to get to game.

Avoid anywhere near Cannonmills at temp lights around there till Monday meaning delays also.

Going to be worse trying to get away. At least going people arrive at different times but the amount of people trying to leave Leith at the same time tomorrow is going to be horrendous.

Another note for tomorrow for those who use the Bathgate / Livi / Uphall Trainline, it's a bus replacement service all day, East bound trains are stopping at Bathgate then bus from there.
Livi South line running as usual.

20 min delays this morning - backed up to Ferry Road junction. Add in possible school sports traffic tomorrow and could be very busy.

Agreed traffic after game possibly going to be worse but still except bus and any car journeys to be longer tomorrow due to the mess the city is currently in with construction and road works / roads closed.
