How funny would it be if, after finally breaking the Hearts support with his hoofball, Craig Levein’s parting shot was to usher in Warnock?

“I’d like to thank Craig for giving me the perfect platform. Everything I need is already here - Christophe Berra, Iche Ikpeazu and no midfield.”

Its a no from me. Eddie May and Grant Murray look to be a safe bet until a younger hungrier manager than Neil Warnock is appointed. In saying that I'll get behind anyone within reason that gets the hot seat.

    Free no compensation?

I’ll consider it but only if the compensation is a minimum £5m.

Perfect for the upcoming Hearts documentary
With that sort of language Budge would ban him from Tynecastle.

Would take him in a heartbeat. Bags of experience, bags of success. Has managed at a much higher level for years than Jack Ross or anyone else on ‘the shortlist’ and probably at a higher level than Ross & co ever will I would guess.

From what I remember he has a holiday home on the West Coast (Dunoon?) and said he'd like a shot at managing in Scotland. He probably mentioned Hibs or Hearts in an interview given that he's be unlikely to get one of the OF jobs.

In the unlikely event of Warnock getting the gig, Hibs would be the biggest club he’s managed.
    That would be interesting!

I don't think we could pay the wages he's been used to - big club or no.

Interesting thought, it’s all subjective, apart from Leeds I would say so but I’m sure that 99% of Sheffield United, Crystal Palace, QPR & Cardiff fans would laugh at this notion, that’s a reflection of how Scottish football is viewed down here. On a level playing field we (& Heartz) are bigger than all of those clubs but we couldn’t afford to buy their tea ladies!

If you asked me to rank them, it would go:

    Leeds United

    Sheffield United
    Hibs

    Crystal Palace

    Cardiff City

    QPR

Do some posters honestly believe that managing Hibs would be preferable to managing a team playing (or with a good possibility of playing) in the EPL? I mean seriously? Only a Hibs fan would say that, no top class manager would that's for damn sure......

Seriously. Managed about 17 clubs in his career, arguably the biggest being Crystal Palace. This is what he has managed to "win" in all that time. Hardly bags of success. Maybe if you add in the number of relegations he survived...

    Scarborough Football Conference champions, 1986–87[48]
Notts County Football League Third Division Play-off winners 1989–90[48]
Notts County Football League Second Division Play-off winners 1990–91[48]
Huddersfield Town Football League Second Division Play-off winners 1994–95[48]
Plymouth Argyle Football League Third Division Play-off winners 1995–96[48]
Sheffield United Football League Championship runners-up 2005–06[48]
Queens Park Rangers Football League Championship winners 2010–11[48]
Cardiff City Football League Championship runners-up 2017–18[48]
Huddersfield Town Yorkshire Electricity Cup winners 1994–95

The best out of all of that is second place in the English Championship. He is a classless dinosaur whose teams are eye bleeding to watch. I would never go to ER if we were stupid enough to employ him.

Pretty sure he’s been regarded as a success at most clubs he’s managed, kept a few up when appointed that were expected to go down, took his Sheffield United team to two semi finals at Wembley. Can’t just judge success on amount of trophies or promotions. I appreciate he’s not well liked by some and can rub folk up the wrong way but I don’t care if he’s a popular guy or not, it’s what the guy can do for us that I’m interested in. I won’t be withdrawing my support whoever gets the job.

I would agree that he's considered a success at most of his clubs, what I can't agree with his his lack of eyebrows and his scary hairline, both of which give me the absolute fear.

You don't think 8 promotions is a successful career? Absolutely amazing career.

Wouldn't say Hearts, but Hibs have far more European pedigree than all of those clubs combined outwith Leeds.

Unfortunately that was so long ago it doesn't have any real influence in the modern game IMO.

What I mean is if we competed in the same league set up as those clubs I believe we would have the potential to be more successful, attract bigger crowds etc. As it is it’s like comparing apples with oranges.
It’s never going to happen but it would be interesting to see what our natural level would be in a ‘British League’ but that’s a whole new topic.,

The modern game has basically become a rigged monopoly with glass ceilings in just about every domestic league. In terms of club history, Hibs' is far more prized than Palace, QPR or Cardiff's. Not even a question about it.
