Interesting - from what I've heard, the job is there for Jack Ross if he wants it.

So, if true, I guess it's now a case of whether Ross does indeed want it/has any other offers he'd consider together/ahead of us...

Imo Jack Ross will be one of a number of people we’re speaking to. People saying he’s definitely got the job are getting ahead of themselves imo.

Especially with the Hearts job still a possibility, they would like nothing more than to do a Dylan Bikey to us again, that still hurts.

Jack Ross 1/5 on skybet, Bet Victor & Paddy Power.

Is this people who think they know whats going on betting with different betting companies as they can't put huge sums of money on with one particular site?

Ross is the number one candidate and was sounded out before Hecky left. Definitely. Someone else might convince otherwise but he will be in soon enough.

I think it's probably reflective, if not generous, of the chances of him being announced pretty soon.

We learned last time round how suddenly these things can change though

  10. #399
I think failure to appoint him would turn out to be a massive mistake.

Im certain he’s the man to take us forward and improve us.

I’ve heard that, if it comes down to a return to Scotland, Hibs is his preference.

They will be taking almost nothing money wise. Try and put £200 on an 8/1 shot in that market and see what happens.

If Ross doesn't become our manager I'll be gutted.

Even if they have made an approach to JR they will review applications and speak to other people until a contract is signed rather than sitting waiting for him to decide.

If JR doesn't want to come to us or takes a job elsewhere then we have other options and it encourages JR to make up his mind incase we find someone else we decide to offer it to ahead of him.

I can't see us letting it drag on for weeks. They will want to have it done during the international break and the new man in place for the Motherwell game.

Appointment hopefully before the end of the month according to LD. Certainly not a done deal for Jack Ross by the looks of it.

How long did it take between Lennon getting sacked and Heckingbottom getting the job? 2 weeks?

I don’t think managers can take it for granted that their ‘going rate’ is based on highest earnings achieved in previous posts or that their level of employability is based on the top standard of league they have worked in. Most managers are out of jobs because they failed somewhat in their previous post and they should be prepared to take a hit and start building up their reputation with a step down in wage demands.

The last time we ignored due process and hurried into appointing the outstanding candidate we got Butcher.

I’m not against Hibs taking their time and if the JR ship sails then so be it.

Yeh that was kinda my point, if he is still being paid by Sunderland until the end of his contract then he may not want another job if that affects the money he is due.

Correct appointing JR without looking into what other candidates were available would be lazy imo.

He might be alright but he’s not got a good enough CV to just jump to the front of any queue without considering anybody else. That’s not ruling him out but we need to look at what else is available before making a decision.

The last time we followed due process, we ended up with Heckingbottom. Appointing a manager is a crap-shoot. No amount of ‘informal discussions’ will change that.

This. We will have been working away for weeks if not months on a successor in any case.

Well, he did start the thread. Not that this narrows things down much admittedly.
