"I didn’t actually know it at first – and then I thought maybe this was not a little bit normal."

All of the above quote are from the EEN interview So apart from not knowing who Hearts were, he doesn't seem to have bothered looking into who had just been sacked from the job (otherwise he would have reckognised him)

I think it's hilarious - Potter started showing him around and it took a while for it to dawn on Stendel who he was, he then says that it's not really unusual then admits that it's pretty weird all the same
It's amazing that Levein didn't introduce himself to the guy before showing him round. I wonder who Stendel thought he was?

    Two things,
1/ Does Budge still have the mental capacity to run a business like Hear7s. Given the amount of mistakes she has made during her tenure, her shambolic overseeing of the building of new stand. Her shambolic appointment and subsequent ramblings of her last three managerial appointments I would suggest that she should maybe think about retiring after all she ain’t getting any younger.

2/ The McCrae's Battalion will be spinning in their graves at the thought of a German leading their team.

Maybe he did but Oberleutnant Stendel was too blootered to remember?

Read the press interview with Budge this morning where she claims that before going for "something different" she considered getting "a Craig Levein clone" in as manager. Please don't tell me they're making replicas of him, one is dull enough.
She is completely obsessed with him.

Bonkers, even by their own comical standards, you have to feel for the new guy, bet he's never shown the new guy round after he got sacked the last time.

Working off the daily hangover is bad enough without being dragged around hockey pitches at Riccarton by some jakey when it should be obvious to all concerned that the pubs/bookies have just opened.

Why would they? Was the Bruttish Empire not lead by a Saxe Coburg Gotha monarch?

Was it not Stendel who got battered from Joey Barton. Just remembered that
Joey Barton is the pricks prick. I hope he got a skelping back.

I think that Stendel is, at the very least, a more creative appointment than the likes of Levein or Neilson.

Having said that, objectively that press conference is a genuinely awkward and difficult watch.

Budge is clearly not that comfortable in front of a camera and Stendel basically just said that he'd never heard of Hearts. No idea what kind appointment Stendel will turn out to be for Hearts (Sporting Director is probably just as important for them to get right), but it's a bit of a weird start.

    Not complaining mind.

Not from Stendel he didn't but he might get one from the judge when it gets to court....

Stendal must be the anti-Levein then, because Levein liked throwing punches on the pitch.
Mature, sensible signature required for responsible position. Good prospects for the right candidate. Apply within.

Christ. I thought Budge was way too old for that but modern medicine can do amazing things I suppose.

    Congrats to Anne and Craig.

[QUOTE=Cataplana;6013433]You think it's funny just now? Medals takes it to a new level.

"For example, make Gary Locke the sporting director on top of his ambassadorial role. I’m sure he would do it for nothing, as would many others, myself included. I’d happily do the sporting director’s job and there will be a queue of others who feel the same."

Locke could be Assistant Sporting Director and Medals could be Assistant to the Assistant Sporting Director. They could give them both wee name badges.

Instead of name badges they could give them nice shiny medals. If they then say it loud and often enough it means it is a fact that they have medals then.

Sounds perfectly sensible but I think they'd want hats as well, if they didn't have a hat they wouldn't stand out from your every day Duncan who has his name attached to every item of clothing.

The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits

The trouble with referees is that they know the rules, but they do not know the game

You may have missed the joke there, and if not I'd hardly say it's classless compared to what he replied to!

“Don’t you know who I am?” asked the famous world class defender turned manager turned football overlord. He was joking of course - his glittering career and enormous medal haul meant EVERYBODY knew who he was.

“Are you the waiter?” replied Stendel. His head was killing him and he really needed a drink to take the edge off.

Levein huffed. This relationship was not getting off to a good start...
