Would be happy with either of these. Can't say I know much about killie this season other than they aren't conceding many goals, so it'll be a tough game.

I'd go with this but play Middleton instead of Doidge. Middleton seemed to play well for the U21's through the middle, his extra pace could cause problems.

Has to play or we are very one-paced IMHO

Mallan has to be dropped. He will be bullied in the midfield the next 4 games if he starts. The lack of a decent defensive midfielder means i would play horgan and middleton but if we had one i wouldve gone with a diamond in the middle with allan at the top of it and doidge upfront with flo.

To be fair, it's often not clear what system he's playing.

I'd drop Mallon and go for a midfield 3 of Viela, Mellberg and Allen.

I'm not risking Porteous or any of the just back from injury players on that pitch. Therefore.

    Marciano
    Naismith
    Jackson
    Hanlon
    Stevenson
    Vela
    Slivka
    Allan
    Middleton
    Kamberi
    Horgan.

Need to try something different. I’d maybe be tempted to play a diamond in the middle of the park or something.

    What I hope for

    ...........................Marciano............

    Naismith......Jackson....Porteous....Stevenson

    ...................Hallberg.......Vela.........

    Horgan...................Allan..................Mi ddleton...

    ............................Kamberi......

    What I expect

    ...............................Maxwell............ ...

    Naismith.......Jackson......Hanlon..........Steven son

    Allan.............Mallan.........Hallberg........M iddleton...

    ........................Doidge.....Kamberi....

With playing on that surface I can see him wanting to play a direct game and try occupy their defence with 2 strikers. Naismith going forward a lot will allot Allan to drift in and still leave us with an option wide.

Mallan seems to be the first pick centre mid and tbf to him the one that tries to organise us. Iv said it before I don’t think Mallan has been playing bad, he’s just not playing the style people want and what we need.

Can see him saying Porteous and James aren’t quite fit enough yet.

Doidge is not up to this level. Better off playing Horgan. I Would drop Hanlon too and go with flat back four and bring Slivka with Horgan playing wide right. We need to flood midfield. Allan, Horgan, Slivka and the Swede can all break forward to support Flo.
    4-5-1.

Think Hallberg may be more suited to a few sub appearances before being drafted straight in from the off. I also fancy Mallan to get a goal on Saturday.

Being hecky he will probably opt for Jim. Get it wrong and then say to himself I should've known better.

I'm not sure Horgan is up to this level. I've a feeling if we stick with Doidge he'll come good.

I agree re Horgan, his tactical awareness is shocking and his fitness levels brutal. He was a punt by Preston which didn't work out, he's very very inconsistent.

Didn't he score and set up more goals than Ryan Kent last season?

He's got his limitations, and like any winger he can frustrate, but across the season he contributes plenty.

Edit. Horgan played 38 games, scored 7, assisted 10.

    Kent played 43, Scored 6, assisted 10.

Yup, more goals and more assists having played less minutes.

He can be inconsistent but there's no denying his end product, useful to have on the pitch as he's always likely to grab a goal or an assist.

Out of the 7 goals 4 were against lower divison teams 2 v Elgin 1 v Rovers 1 v Ross County. 2 league matches 1xLivi and the 2xHearts

The league assists were 3x Hamilton, 2x Dundee 1x Livi 1 x Celtic.

Horgan is getting an easier time at present due to his 2 goals at Tynecastle. He is not a top 3 team winger. Offers nothing defensively and flatters to deceive more times than not.

It’s wishful thinking to think dropping in Hallberg for one of the existing midfielders is going to solve our problems so personally think we have to change formation too and to something that will protect the back 4 better. It’s also a definite that Scott Allan plays. So I’d offer 4-4-1-1….

    Marciano

    Naismith
Porteous (if ready, if not then Jackson)
    Hanlon
    Stevenson

    Murray
    Vela
    Hallberg
    Middleton

    Allan

    Kamberi

Hopefully a bit better balanced with options of Mallan, Horgan, Doidge and Shaw off the bench.
